REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION WITH SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

In detail, please describe those physical, functional, performance, or material element qualities of an item that are essential to ensure that the intended use of the item can be satisfactorily realized.

Text1: Cryogenic Purge Cart Requirements
Text2: - Item must be a cryogenic purge cart designed for and safe to use on Air Force liquid oxygen storage tanks that are up to 6,000 gallons in capacity.

- Equipped with a Blower. The blower should be a rotary positive displacement unit which utilizes a 2-lobe rotor design. Must be capable of delivering oil-free air to the heater assembly at a rate of 6 pounds per minute.

- Equipped with a Heater Assembly. The heater assembly should consist of electrical heating elements mounted in an insulated cylindrical chamber. The purpose of the heater assembly is to heat the incoming air from a blower. The heater is thermostatically controlled to insure maintaining the outlet temperature of the purging unit at 350±10 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) throughout the complete purging operation.

- Temperature gauge that reads outlet temperature of heater from 50 degrees to 500 degrees.

- High Temperature Limit Controller located inside the control panel with a sensing thermocouple located in the heater discharge pipe. The high temperature limit controller must be factory set at 400 °F with the ability to adjust temperature by rotating the adjusting knob.

- Must be trailer mounted and easily portable.

- Servicing hose must be at least 10 feet long and covered with a scuff resistant insulating jacket.

-- The inside diameter of the hose must be 1.5 inches.

-- Connecting adapters (1 inch, 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch) must be provided to connect purge unit to storage tanks.

-- The free end of the hose must contain a quick disconnect coupling able to fit any of the three adapters (1 inch, 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch) employed.

- Unit must come with an available user guide that explains inspection, operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, storage, shipment, system diagram, and complete parts list.
