About this file
This is a Technical Purchase Specification document for a custom, turn-key MiniMezzanine Storage Cabinet System designed for aviation maintenance flight-line environments. The contractor must provide all equipment, materials, and labor for procurement, delivery, assembly, and installation of a structural, two-tier modular storage system.
The system dimensions are 37 feet 6 inches wide (including staircase), 32 feet 6 inches for the cabinet bank width, approximately 5 feet front-to-back walkway depth, and approximately 9 feet 10.255 inches overall height. The lower tier consists of back-to-back (double-sided) cabinet housings with drawers and shelving accessible from both front and rear faces, while the upper tier is configured as single-sided cabinets aligned along the front of the mezzanine platform and accessible via an elevated walkway. The system includes 14 sixty-inch-wide housings and 11 thirty-inch-wide housings, all approximately 59.13 inches tall, along with specific quantities of rollout trays and drawers in varying heights (56-inch and 30-inch widths with face heights ranging from 4.6 to 14.1 inches). Cabinet housings must be heavy-duty industrial-grade steel with no ventilation holes required. All drawers must be fully lockable with single-key master options. The walkway platform must feature industrial-grade, slip-resistant metal bar grating flooring with full-length metal guardrails and kickplates complying with OSHA safety guidelines. A structural metal staircase with dual safety handrails must be integrated on the right-hand side for upper-level access. All visible metal components must be finished in a durable, scratch-resistant, industrial powder-coat finish color-matched in blue. Heavy-duty support posts and structural cross-bracing must ensure stability under dynamic, multi-person load conditions.

Technical Purchase Specifications: Mini-
Mezzanine Storage Cabinet System
1. PURPOSE & SCOPE
This document defines the technical and performance specifications for the procurement, delivery, assembly, and installation of a custom, turn-key Mini‐ Mezzanine Storage Cabinet System. The contractor shall provide all equipment, materials, and labor necessary to deliver a structural, two-tier modular storage system designed to maximize secure vertical storage capacity, optimize floor area, and safely house specialty tools, kits, engine test equipment, and maintenance components.
2. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE & STRUCTURAL
LAYOUT
2.1. Overall Physical Footprint
To fit within the designated facility footprint, the system must conform to the following dimensional constraints:
| Total | System | Width | (including | staircase): 37 ft. 6 in. |
| Cabinet | Bank | Width: 32 ft. 6 in. | ||
| Walkway | Depth | (Front‐to‐Back): Approximately 5 ft. | ||
| Overall | System | Height: Approximately 9 ft. 10.255 in. |
2.2. Elevation Profile & Structural Configuration
The storage system utilizes a space-saving two-tier vertical configuration:
Lower Tier (Level 1): Configured as a back-to-back (double-sided) cabinet system. Drawers and shelving must be accessible from both the front and rear faces of the unit to establish a wide, stable structural foundation.
Upper Tier (Level 2): Configured as a single-sided row of cabinets, aligned along the front side of the platform and accessible via the elevated walkway.
Mezzanine Walkway Platform: The elevated walking platform is integrated directly onto the top surface of the lower back-to-back cabinet housings. Because the lower cabinet housings serve as the direct structural foundation for the walkway, there is no under-platform clearance or "walk-under" head-height conflict for personnel working at floor level. Ground-level storage is accessed directly from the floor, and upper-level storage is accessed from the top walkway.
3. CABINET, DRAWER, & STORAGE
COMPONENTS
3.1. Modular Cabinet Housings
Housings: Built from heavy-duty industrial-grade cabinet shells in modular widths of 30 inches and 60 inches.
Housing Heights: Varied heights to match a common profile (comprising heights of approximately 59 in., 44 in., and 27 in.).
Structural Filler Panels: The system must include coordinating filler panels and cabinet spacers (in 30-inch and 60-inch segments) to ensure structural continuity and complete alignment across the system footprint.
Ventilation: No vent holes or slotted vents are required on any cabinet housings or drawer front panels.
3.2. Drawers, Rollout Trays, & Integrated Shelving
Locking Mechanism: All cabinet drawers must be fully lockable. The system must support single-key master options so that a single key can lock or unlock an entire bank of drawers.
Rollout Trays: Defined as heavy-duty, fully extendable sliding storage shelves with no front drawer faces, designed for rapid inventory access and high-visibility storage of parts.
Integrated Shelving: The lower tier shall incorporate open steel shelving units integrated alongside the cabinet drawer housings to comply with physical layout limits, enhance organizational flexibility, and allow for bulk item storage on the bottom level.
4. HARDWARE SCHEDULE & QUANTITY
REQUIREMENTS
The complete system must utilize the specific industrial housings, rollout trays, and drawer configurations listed below. The contractor is responsible for configuring these modular elements into a seamless, gap-free structural footprint.

5. WALKWAY, STAIRS, & SAFETY COMPLIANCE
5.1. Elevated Walkway & Flooring
Flooring Material: The walking platform surface must be constructed of industrial-grade, slip-resistant metal bar grating.
Guardrails: Robust, full-length metal guardrails and kickplates must be installed along the exposed lengths of the upper walkway platform to prevent falls and comply with standard OSHA safety guidelines.
5.2. Staircase Access
Staircase Kit: A structural metal staircase must be integrated on the right-hand side of the unit to provide safe access to the upper mezzanine level.
Safety Handrails: The staircase must include matching structural safety handrails on both sides.
5.3. Structural Stability
Support Posts: Heavy-duty support columns, posts, and structural cross-bracing must be supplied and anchored beneath the mezzanine framework as required to ensure complete stability under dynamic, multi-person load conditions.
6. QUALITY ASSURANCE, FINISH, &
INSTALLATION
6.1. Material Quality
All components must be constructed of heavy-gauge, cold-rolled industrial steel capable of withstanding the rigors of an active aviation maintenance flight-line environment.
6.2. Protective Surface Finish
Color Matching: To ensure structural and aesthetic uniformity, all visible metal components—including cabinet housings, drawer front panels, open shelves, staircase assemblies, safety railings, walkways, support columns, and filler panels—must be finished in a durable, scratch-resistant, industrial powder-coat finish color-matched in blue.
6.3. Delivery & Assembly
The contractor shall deliver all modular components, fasteners, and structural hardware to the facility, performing complete on-site assembly, anchoring, and alignment verification to hand over a fully operational, turn-key system.
