This requirement is for SEEKER-e EDK Handheld Explosive Detector and Detection Cards, Warranty, and Demilitarization. The SEEKERe EDK Handheld Explosive Detector is a brand name Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) system made in the U.S., capable of detecting trace and bulk amounts of energetic material. It employs automated colorimetric technology to optically interpret and detect explosives through color reactions.

The system requires the user to swipe an area with the detection card to interrogate for the presence of explosives, then insert the card into the SEEKERe EDK system. The system then analyzes the card and provides a result to the operator. Data is stored on the unit and can be exported via the micro USB port (hardware not provided). The native output format is .pdf. This unit does not have an internal antenna and requires a special external dongle for GPS operation.

Therefore, GPS function is not possible and is disabled by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The operating system used is Linux based.

The SEEKERe EDK is a stand-alone handheld explosives screening appliance with no Platform Information Technology (PIT) -to-PIT Interconnections, no PIT Interconnections (PITI), and no PIT-to-DODIn Interconnection. This stand-alone appliance has no persistent external interfaces, nor the capability to interface to other systems. The appliance will never connect to any network, nor has any networking capability. Use of this appliance will detect trace quantities of explosive contamination, to include, but not limited to, nitroaromatics, nitramines, nitrate esters, inorganic nitrates, chlorate's, and peroxides.
