About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to specifications for a 2020 CAT 966H wheel loader (Model 557-3535). The Q&A addresses potential equipment specification equivalencies, including:

The government responds to four specific technical questions about potential alternative components. Most proposed changes are acceptable, with one exception: the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) blanket remains a mandatory requirement. The government will allow the addition of an engine cooling circuit to transfer heat to the DEF tank, but only in conjunction with the required DEF blanket. Proposed equivalencies that were accepted include a Cummins B6.7 Tier IV/Stage V 310HP engine, a telescopic chute with slightly different measurements, and a thermostatic cooling fan.
