START UP
During start up the turbine was slow rolled at 500 RPM for 40 minutes while the vibration readings and oil temps were watched. After the bearing temps and vibration readings leveled the turbine was rolled to 1000 RPM for 20 minutes while all readings were watched. The turbine was then rolled to 3600 RPM and then ran up to over speed. The first trip was at 3950 RPM and the second was at 3958 RPM. The turbine was brought back to speed and put on line with 0.5 MW for 3 hours then brought up in load to 1, 3 and 5 MW for a minimum of 15 minutes for the vibration readings to be taken. After the vibration testing the turbine was backed down to 4 MW and ran over night because the plant had cooling water problems and could not start the extraction testing. On Tuesday the 16th the extraction control testing was started and ran for 24 hours with no problems. On Wednesday the 17th the turbine was put in to load share control for 24 hours to finish the acceptance testing. After the acceptance testing the turbine and generator was turned over to the plant.
During the start up the turbine and generator bearing oil temps were watched and found to stay between 125°F and 135° F. The vibration on the turbine out board was found to stay between 3 and 4.5 mils. The turbine inboard and generator bearings were found to stay around 1.5 and 2.5 mils.
