STATEMENT OF WORK

MARRIAGE CARE and SINGLES RETREATS (Outside Anchorage)

For JBER, AK

1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: A resort facility is needed for an off-site military Marriage

Care retreat. The contractor shall provide a facility greater than 45 minutes from Joint Base

Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) but not to exceed 3 hours from JBER. The location must provide the atmosphere and ambiance for married couples to be in a relaxed and non-stressful environment equivalent to or better than the “three diamond” industry standards of AAA. The purpose of the retreat is to enhance marriages and sustain positive, enriched relationships for Airmen and

Soldiers. Marriage Retreats will have up to 30 couples per retreat, and Singles Retreats will have up to 35 singles per retreat.

Retreats are more intimate and spiritual than conferences. Retreats, by design, are held in a location apart from normal workday and family life. Ideally they should be in a setting that is conducive to strengthening marriages and enhancing relationships. For this reason, this initiative will follow the USAF Chaplain Corps Marriage Care Retreat Program. Specifically, 673d ABW/HC will focus on providing couples with the opportunity to get away from the installation and focus on their marriage relationship. This will be done through focusing on the Traditional Marriage Vows.

“three diamond” industry standards of AAA. As defined, “three diamond” establishments are distinguished and multifaceted, with enhanced physical attributes, amenities and guest comforts.
