ATTACHMENT #4 –
Workload Estimates
Local Clinical Workload: The 673 MDG Diagnostic Imaging Department performs an average of 55K studies annually. This includes studies from 2 MRI, 1 CT, 2 Nuc Med, 3 US, 2 MG, 9 DI, and 5 RF devices.
Local IT Workload: The PACS Administrator is responsible for maintaining 16 servers, mostly physical with some virtual, but that number will change as current systems are upgraded or replaced, and new systems are stood up. Current systems include: PACS, Regional Archive for PACAF, Voice Dictation, iCAD, and Mammography Reporting System. Backups are performed for all systems and stored at an offsite location weekly.
On Call and Afterhours Support: The section requires 24/7/365 emergency support, but calls are infrequent, occurring semi-monthly, and many situations can be handled remotely. In the 2015, in house support was required only 10 times.
Project Management: In the next 5 years we are expecting at least 4 system upgrades which will required the PACS Administrator to take the lead as the site point of contact. System upgrades will likely see an increase in the demand for afterhours support to ensure continuity of care. Other projects will require consultation as the PACS subject matter expert.
Managing Connections: The PACS Administrator is responsible for maintaining PACS connections for dozens of local modality devices, all Pacific Air Force bases, 5 Air Force regional archives, the Ft Richardson satellite clinic, and our Joint Venture VA facility.
2015 Service Calls (outside of normal duty hours) by Quarter:
Quarter 1: 1 call Quarter 2: 1 call Quarter 3: 2 calls Quarter 4: 6 calls
These are not guaranteed numbers for future call schedules. The contractor might get called in more, or less than the numbers shown here. Historically, the call numbers have been low—with almost all work able to be completed remotely or during the normal duty day. During Quarter 4 we had a system upgrade that developed problems. This required in house support resulting in the increased number of calls.
