Answers to Questions

Vital Sign Monitors

FA5000-15-T-0202

1. Is the intended use for the Vital Signs Monitors to be in a deployable, expeditionary environment, or for use within local Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs)?

This equipment will be used at the JBER MTF. Specifically, it will replace the equipment in place at the Pediatrics, Flight Medicine, and Family Health Clinics.

2. Are you aware if Philips devices are being used in other parts of the hospital? Is this something you would still be interested in receiving a response [quote on]?

Yes, there are Philips products in the facility; however since this purchase is not part of a large connecting system buy we are not tied to a vendor for sourcing. We are interested in a quote for a quantity of 85 Vital Sign Monitors, made in America, that meet our specific salient characteristics for this equipment requirement.

3. You are requesting a backup battery with at least 8 hours of battery life. Our 740

SELECT has a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack which provides a 12 hour run time.

There is no external charger available for this, so I am not sure why you feel the need for a backup. From my understanding the monitors will be plugged most of the time.

The backup battery is required and should be, at a minimum, 8 hours “or greater” as the salient characteristic. There are several factors including Natural Disaster, power supply interruption due to inclement weather, and just comfort of the units requesting this equipment in Alaska that has created this request in that their equipment must have minimal capability for power, as it facilitates a plan of action when encountered with a crisis in the medical field.
