About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document related to an RFQ for a C & X-Band 300W Amplifier. The document appears to be a supplementary resource addressing clarifications or technical inquiries regarding the solicitation FA4887Q0027 issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command for Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.

The underlying solicitation seeks quotes for a C & X-Band 300W Amplifier under a 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside. Evaluation criteria include price, technical capability, and past performance, with technical and past performance combined being equally important as price. The deadline for submitting questions is June 4th, 2026, at 1:00 PM EDT, with all inquiries directed to aniyah.jackson@us.af.mil and thomas.jobe@us.af.mil. Quote submissions must be sent to the same contacts and are due by June 8th, 2026, at 1:00 PM EDT. Technical requirements are specified in the attached Salient Characteristics document, and all terms and conditions are outlined in the SF 1449 Solicitation (FA488726Q0027). The acquisition is subject to FAR 52.212-2 provisions.

Questions and Answers

1. Frequency requirements are 5.5-10.5GHz. The question we have is regarding bandwidth. Would a bandwidth of 6-10.5GHz be acceptable? If not, can we drop the output power from 5.5-6GHz? If so, by how much?

0. No, the bandwidth must be 5.5-105GHz minimum and the power level at 5.5GHz is most critical and cannot be compromised. Because of gain variability, we try to stay within an across-the-band power.

1. What is the pulse width requirement? This parameter is required to determine the RF lineup, thermal dissipation, and efficiency.

1. The pulse width requirements are:

0. Duty cycle <12%

0. PD = 1uS to 300uS

0. PRI = 10uS to 3000uS

1. What is the maximum allowable size/volume? Currently the allowable dimensions appear to be a module, however would a standard 2U or 3U, 19-inch rack mountable assembly be acceptable?

2. The have the maximum allowed amplifier size set at 12L x 10W x 5D inches, this is required for the device to be mounted on our emitter panel which sits in the final unit. A 2U, 3U or rack assembly would most likely not be feasible at all.

1. Is the Gain Flatness referring to small signal gain or large signal gain?

3. The gain flatness refers to the small signal gain.

1. The Output connector is stated to be TNC, would N-Type also be acceptable?

4. The output connector does not have to be a TNC, it can also be N-type, absolutely.

1. Will this product be used above an Altitude of 10,000 feet or will this product be used exclusively at the Goldwater Range which is below 4000 feet?

5. This product could very well be used at above 10,000 feet depending on where it is deployed; although the unit so far has only been used at the Goldwater range, future requirements are for it to be deployed at many ranges across CONUS and possibly beyond.

1. Please advise if the customer can accept a two-band solution.

6. It must be a single module and maintain the dimensional specs provided in the salient characteristics.

1. Is it okay to use chassis-system, as the customer spec calls out a module?

7. Unfortunately, it cannot be a chassis-system. It must be a single module and maintain the dimensional specs provided in the salient characteristics.

1. Is it possible for an extension of solicitation?

8. No, there will be no extension to the timeline of the solicitation.
