About this file

This document is a list of questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for replacing filter media in arsenic absorbent vessels at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. The Q&A addresses five key points: (1) media volume confirmation of 754 cubic feet total (377 cu.ft. per vessel), (2) dumpster placement guidelines near the tanks (northwest corner, outside fence, not blocking access), (3) overnight dumpster storage authorization, (4) waste management certification for base access, and (5) technical details about the diffusion sheet material. The responses provide specific operational guidance, indicating the sheet is made of stainless steel or nickel-copper, with a recommendation to consult manufacturer specifications for precise details about its construction and use.

Text version

1. Is the 754 cubic feet of media the total for both tanks?

--- 377 cu.ft. per vessel (total – 754 cu.ft.)

2. We usually use a dumpster near the tanks for Waste Management pickup and disposal. Is this acceptable? And is there a preference for location of a 30 yd dumpster near the tanks?

--- Near site, not blocking gate/road access, NW corner of site, outside its fence.

3. Is it OK for the dumpster to be on site overnight if scheduling requires it? (Item 4 on SOW)

--- YES

4. Is W-M certified for Luke AFB access? Would be helpful.

--- Material extracted safe for dump/landfill. Specific companies may have current access, if not access can be arranged.

5. In the spec, special reference was made regarding the diffusion sheet damage.

It begs the question, what is the diffusion sheet made of? How is it constructed? Because previously GFH was used, special care was taken to keep the fines out of the potable water. E-33 is a larger particle and does not carry off as easily. Therefore, the diffusion sheet here is particularly delicate to keep the GFH fines in and we would like to know how it was made.

--- Stainless steel or Nickel-Copper, specific use inquire manufacturer’s recommendations.
