About this file
This document is the Mesh Radio Infrastructure Salient Characteristics for a federal contract opportunity. The 56th Range Management Office (56 RMO) requires a small-scale mesh radio system to allow for remote control of electronic equipment on the Barry M. Goldwater Range. The system should consist of 2 medium-range sector antennas and 7 short-range radios, with characteristics specified in the document, including operating frequencies, throughput, encryption, and ingress protection. The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation FA488724Q0036 for a firm-fixed-price Purchase Order for the mesh radio system. The solicitation is open, but funds are not yet available, and the government reserves the right to cancel the requirement. The contracting agency is the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command.

Text version
Mesh Radio Infrastructure Salient Characteristics 56 Range Management Office requires a small-scale mesh radio system to allow for unencumbered radio antenna placement on the Barry M. Goldwater Range to allow for remote control of electronic equipment on the range.
Medium range (25nm) antennas along with short range (7-10nm) radios to collectively provide the mesh radio architecture desired. Radios will be connected into existing microwave backbone for backhaul to operating location.
Current fielding plan is 2 sector antennas and 7 short range radios.
Recommended operating characteristics.
Mesh Configuration: Token-based (TDMA) waveform that polls network devices to provide a form of ultra-low latency and packet loss.
Med-range Sector antenna
· Antenna gain: 15-20 dBi
· Powered: shore power (120v)
· Transmission Power: 10 Watt
· Antenna: 90 or 120 degree beamwidth
· Mbps: 15-30 Mbps throughput
· Signal to Noise Ratio: -12dB to -17 dB
· Encryption: 256 AES
· Ingress Protection (IP): Rated 65
· GPS Integration Short range radio
· Radio: Receiver/transmitter (standalone node); S band (Upper L), configurable/programable
· Freq Band To Cover Approximately: 1.98ghz – 2.7ghz
· Powered: shore or battery
· Antenna: omni-directional; 4.5 – 5 dBi gain.
· Mbps: 12-25 Mbps throughput
· Signal to noise ratio: -9 dB to -15 dB
· Transmission Power: 2 Watt
· Power Consumption: 10 Watt
· Encryption: 256 AES
· GPS integration
· Ingress Protection (IP): Rated 68 Other Radio Requirements:
· Ability to integrate with other existing systems, e.g. Motorola APX 6000; ATAK/ITAK
· 1.25MHz - 20 MHz Bandwidth channels (without a license fee)
· Point to Multi-Point (split Tx and Rx Frequency)
· 87mbps useable throughput Desired/not required: ability for HD video encoding/transmitting capable.
