UMTE Microwave Upgrade System – Questions & Answers

In the Statement of Objectives there is a photo of the existing dish mounted on a hand rail. Is there any other structure that can be used for a larger dish in order to improve system reliability?

If this is in reference to Childs South, no the mounting structure would have to be installed as part of the project i.e. roof mount or something similar if not using the hand rail.

Is there -48V DC available at all of the sites? If not what power source is available?

The distant ends at the UMTE sites with have -48 V DC POE port provided by our equipment, Fixed sites 200 ft tower and Childs South with use AC Power into POE equipment provided by contractor

Is there available space indoors at all of the sites for split mount equipment (Indoor shelf and ODU’s)? If so how many RU’s are available?

The distant ends at the UMTE Sites do not have any RUs available they would have to be entirely ODU units powered by our POE, 200ft Tower and Childs South would have room for approximately a 4 RU Shelf for the POE devices to be mounted to. We would prefer all units be ODUs.

Will the ethernet traffic be Vlan tagged only, untagged only or a mix of tagged and untagged?

Vlan Tagged by our network switch, we will give you the ip/subnet/gateway addresses for the radios.

What is the interface and speed for traffic from the microwave – 1000BaseT, SM fiber, MM fiber, other?

10/100 Into assigned port on our network switch

In putting together a design for your microwave system we would like to know if you are looking for a redundant radio configuration. Or in other words will you want a hot standby system so that if one radio fails the second keeps things running. The other question we have is how tall would the Child’s South tower be and would you possibly have a pic of that tower?

We don’t need (nor did we request in the SOW) redundancy. The SOW included a picture of the handrail on the Child’s South which is ~3.5’ high off the top deck of the building. The height of the entire building to the handrail, it’s about 70’.
