Estimated Contract Cost (including Options):
Supplies requested are two (2) TrellisWare TW-875 Ghost Radios with necessary accessories to be operated in support of exercise and real-world mission requirements. When utilizing a TW-875 in conjunction with the PRC-163 TSM-X waveform, Silvus Streamcaster, VPN, and other communications accessories, overall range is greatly increased while maintaining a reduced identification footprint. No other product has been found that can interface with the PRC-163 TSM-X to achieve the desired communications results.
A device is required that can ingest an RF mesh network signal and send it out by Ethernet/USB. Additionally, a device needs to be considered for portability as well as power output since rescue teams are vehicle agnostic and need devices that can be hand-carried. TrellisWare, owner of the TSM-X waveform and TW-875 Ghost Radio, has partnered with companies such as L3Harris to allow usage of their proprietary technology since the PRC-163 (L3Harris) does not have a similar built-in capability. L3Harris confirmed that the PRC-163, currently in use by the 58th RQS, does not have the capability to operate on the TSM-X mesh network without usage of a TW-875. At this time, the TW-875 is the only radio that is able to receive fully encrypted data from a TSM-X mesh network and allow that data to pass by USB or Ethernet to another radio or VPN device, which is required to send encrypted information over network securely.
Multiple small businesses are capable and interested in providing the requirement. Thorough Market Research was conducted in order to find a radio with capability similar to the TW-875. At this time, as stated by TrellisWare and L3Harris, there are no other items in the marketplace that provide the same capability.
The TW-875 is a unique item on the market that is capable of providing enhanced communications capability in support of of exercise and real-world mission requirements. If/When future acquisition requirements arise, efforts will be made through market research to preclude use of Single Source or Brand Name contract execution.
