3. Question: Are the racks and underfloor tray supplied and installed by others?
Answer: Yes. All racks and cable trays will be installed prior to the start of structured wiring project.
4. Question: Is there a rack elevation for rows 1-4?
Answer: Yes. See updated rack elevation diagrams. In order to keep file sizes down, not every rack/row is included in the diagrams but the representation for each row by color.
5. Question: Which racks are the Network Distribution Rack?
Answer: The racks at the North East area of the server room. See building layout diagrams.
6. Question: Is there a rack elevation for the Network Distribution racks?
Answer: Yes and should have been previously provided. See diagram for details.
7. Question: Are there materials specs for the copper and fiber cable and components?
Answer: All specifications are listed in the statement of work. The original statement of work stated CAT6 but should read CAT6a due to current distances required to support 10 GB capability.
8. Question: Do the colors of the cable actually need to be the colors listed: Green, Red, Blue, Orange and Yellow?
Answer: Yes.
9. Question: Are the Secured Area and Unclassified Area drops included in this bid? If so we will need the rack elevations for the telecom rooms and the materials specs for the fiber and copper.
Answer: The primary building is considered secured; however, all of the structured wiring will be installed in the server room. No other areas fall under this contract.
10. Question: When is the wag on beneficial occupancy?
Answer: Estimate is beneficial occupancy is September, but completion of the server racks will be October.
11. Question: Are the floor tiles cement?
Answer: Yes. These are 2ft x 2ft cement filled floor tiles.
12. Question: Where do the racks start?
Answer: That information should be on the construction plans and should be close to where the racks will be.
13. Question: Do you have precise distances you can provide from the floor plans (additional specs of layout)?
Answer: No. Not at this time. The construction plans should provide a close approximation of distances.
14. Question: What is the height of the raised floor?
Answer: It is 12 inches.
15. Question: Please verify if any work is needed in either telecom room (i.e. rack installation, IDF room buildout, etc.) or just fiber termination required?
Answer: It is Fiber and CAT6a cable termination in the server room only.
16. Question: How many cables per unclassified area drop?
Answer: There is no work outside of the server room. No installation of any network drops.
17. Question: Do unclassified drops go to the smaller telecom room?
Answer: There is no work outside of the server room. No installation of any network drops.
18. Question: Confirm Secured Area drops are (1) cat 6 cable of each of (5) colors that run to cabinets at NE corner of the server room.
Answer: There is no network drops being installed. All work is to run and terminate fiber/Cat6a between the distribution racks and server racks.
19. Question: Are (2) SM 72 strand cables and 1 copper cable in our SOW? If so, where do they go?
Answer: NO, not part of the SOW.
20. Question: Where will cutting of floor tiles be permitted?
Answer: Outside of the facility.
21. Question: Will escorts be needed?
Answer: Personnel will be supervised by security/project management personnel while on site.
22. Question: What kind of access delays should be expected?
Answer: There will be no access delays to the facility.
23. Question: Verify the three lines (green lines circled in blue) going from the wall cabinets to the telecom room. Are these fiber? Will the contractor be installing these lines or are they existing?
Answer: This is not part of the SOW for this project. They represent the primary incoming fiber/cat6 for the facility.
24. Question: Verify the cabinets in the picture below are the ones that are referred to in page 1-3 as “Fiber from wall” and “CAT6 from wall”.
Answer: Yes. These are the distribution cabinets that the fiber to/from the server racks terminate.
25. Question: Can we get a rack elevation drawing for the 6 “from wall” cabinets?
Answer: Rack elevations have already been provided.
26. Question: In sub paragraph (b) reference of “Row 1/Rack 1 (R1R1) thru Row 1/Rack 16 (R1R16)” we believe should read Row 1/Rack 1 (R1R1) thru Row 16/Rack 1 (R16R1). Please advise if we are correct in our assessment.
Answer: Yes. You are correct on how it should read.
27. Question: In sub paragraph (e) section i : we believe “R5R7 is referenced twice by mistake. Please advise if we are correct in our assessment.
Answer: Yes. You are correct. “R5R7” is reference twice by mistake.
28. Question: In sub paragraph (e) section ii : we believe “Blue Network Rack (“Blue Rack”) to Rows 4 thru 10” should end with “Rows 5 thru 12". Please advise if we are correct in our assessment.
Answer: Yes. You are correct. Blue rows run R5 to R12.
29. Question: In sub paragraph (o) Please provide part number of KoldLok Grommets to be used. We have researched APC and have preliminarily priced out model AR7740.
Answer: I would look for something like KoldLok 1010 Integral Raised Floor Grommet but requires a cut out in the floor tile.
30. Question: In calling for the installation of pre-terminated fiber cables but not on the copper cables, is it then to be understood that copper terminations will take place in the data center?
Answer: Not sure I understand the question about the copper terminations. All fiber and copper will be terminated on appropriate patch panels and labeled within the server room.
31. Question: In providing certification for the lines installed aside from the required copper certification requirements, should we also include certifying the fiber after installation? If so we can also provide OTDR test results for full knowledge for making future network enhancements. Lastly we could provide optical scope photos of terminal endpoints.
Answer: All cables (fiber and copper) must be tested. Provide the results showing that all cables meet industry standards for installation and performance. Optical scope photos will not be necessary because OTDR testing will reveal if there are issues.
32. Question: In the wiring diagrams of the racks there are Leviton panels depicted. Is there a specific manufacturer requested? If so is there a line card of required materials? Without a line card, if specific to Leviton, we would list all materials chosen per the SOW on the BOM submitted with the pricing. If Leviton is not a requirement is Belden a viable practice? We utilize their bonded pair cabling with their patented, unparalleled REV connect system for termination.
Answer: The diagrams I provided are not vendor specific but are specific on the number fiber/copper drops. It also shows that there are open patch panel areas available for future use.
Any hardware used must meet Nellis AFB 99 CS and industry standards, allow for easy maintenance or fiber/cat6 replacement if there are issues with cables.
