820 COS – Bldg 1530 Questions

1. Can the hours of operations be extended/modified to avoid interference to the mission?

Yes, we can modify our hours to non-duty hours if need be.

2. How will we address the stage? Coordinate from vendor or obtain similar that matches?

Vendor may use either carpet tiles or roll carpet, if the vendor goes with roll carpet it must match the carpet tile. The carpet tile or rolled carpet must be from the same manufacture.

3. How many rooms per day could we do? As many as possible

4. Wing Down Day Schedule……26-29 May, 16-19 June, 3-4 July & 1-4 Sept

5. Carpet priority order? The quote is for the entire bldg., the Carpet Priority is just in case we don’t have enough funds for the entire bldg.

6. Tabs vs Glue? Preference? Glued

7. Is there asbestos in the ground? Can we obtain a report from CE/Bio?

Due to the buildings age, we have no asbestos info on this bldg. If found, we will then proceed to get it tested but at this time we are not aware of any asbestos threat.

8. Will members remove their belongings from their desk/file cabinet prior to contractors moving?

Yes, they can be removed.

9. Can you provide an Asbestos report of if testing is required for the above referenced project?

The Base does not have one.

10. During the site walk yesterday, there were two additional offices added to the work areas. Can you confirm these additional offices will be included in the scope of work for this project.

The additional areas were just left off and not highlighted, contractors were able to identify those rooms and measure them.

11. How will you address the platform edging in the main conference room? Vendor may use either carpet tiles or roll carpet, if the vendor goes with roll carpet it must match the carpet tile.

12. What references of previous history are you requiring on the bid where in the furniture moving is handled exclusively by the contractor? No previous history by us but other base agencies have had it done.

820 COS – Bldg 1530 Questions

13. Could you provide a detailed floor plan showing the breakdown of the priority sections.

(Maybe color coded). The priority was just used for me if we do not have enough funds to complete all the rooms.

14. Could you confirm that you only require a 4-inch-tall base, or do you desire a 6-inch base to cover previous irregularities caused with previous building upgrades. 4 inches only

15. During the walk thru, it was determined that the contract for this project is not using the minimum standards governing the general conditions requirements and methods controlling the execution phase for carpeting as laid out in the United Facilities Guide Specifications for Carpeting 09 68 00 (https://www.wbdg.org/FFC/DOD/UFGS/UFGS%2009%2068%2000.pdf) outlined in Moody's Installations Facilities Standards (https://www.wbdg.org/ffc/af-afcec/installation-facilities-standards-ifs) on page 126. What standard(s) are you using to determine the minimum acceptable performance requirements for this contract regarding:

If the Moody Specifications are not going to be upheld then, as the SOW states, the carpet manufacturer's specifications will be applied. Manufacturer specs will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer so it’s hard to comment on how well they are written. If it is a common carpeting manufacturer the specifications should be pretty good though.
