Text version

At the youth center you stated that we could find an alternate product to mannington’s. Does that open the field to generic knock offs that claim to do the same thing?

The Mannington product was selected for several reasons; the first of course was aesthetics.

More important than that though was the TP/HP-9 rating. We cannot spend this kind of money knowing that a substandard product will not last in the environment for which it is intended. We are not simply buying a "wood looking" vinyl floor, we are looking for an appealing product that can withstand the rigors that will be placed on it. Thus the 10 Year Commercial warranty. Also significant in the selection process was he ease of care and maintenance. With our shrinking budget we cannot afford full-time maintenance, or often, even part-time cleaning crews. The product line selected are widely known in the industry for its clean-ability, durability, and appearance retention. The solicitation says suitable sub as required by the Federal Acquisition

Regulation, the specifications are that of this product. If there is a differing product "that meets or exceeds" these requirements and specifications then I must consider it. This does not mean

"Generic Knock-offs" and whatever they claim to be, they must PROVE their worth to be the same or better ("meet or exceed").
