Statement of Need

Dental Operating Microscope

The surgical operating microscope is an integral part of modern endodontic practice and can be used in virtually any discipline of dentistry. The microscope allows for the illumination and magnification of structures too small to be seen without this level of magnification. A microscope is the standard of care for endodontists practicing modern techniques. An updated microscope would have the most advanced xenon lighting system available. Xenon lighting is ideal for higher magnification and documentation of procedures. The microscope also has HD co-observation capabilities far superior to that of the current unit where very little detail can be seen. This will be helpful when providing advanced training to the general dentists. More importantly, it will allow the dental technician to visualize the procedure, making procedures more efficient and also safer. The addition of a ceiling-mounted microscope will allow the staff endodontist to practice at a greater level of ergonomic stability reducing fatigue and increasing patient safety.
