SPECIFICATION

CONCRETE TARGET BLOCKS

29 August 2016

1.0 INTRODUCTION

This specification establishes the requirements for the fabrication and delivery of concrete Target blocks depicted above to Avon Park Air Force Range, Avon Park, FL 33825. Blocks are to be used for target construction at Avon Park Air Force Range.

2.0 GENERAL TASKING DESCRIPTION

1. Concrete block as depicted above should be constructed from minimum of 3000 psi concrete.

2. Contractor shall fabricate the following number of blocks:

-280 each Concrete Target Blocks, 10 foot long x 30 inches high x 24 inches wide concrete Target blocks -60 each Concrete Target Blocks, 5 foot long x 30 inches high x 24 inches wide Target blocks.

-25 each Concrete Target Blocks, 3 foot long x 30 inches high x 24 inches wide Target blocks.

-25 each Concrete Target Blocks, 2 foot long x 30 inches high x 24 inches wide Target blocks.

3. Concrete blocks will be reinforced with 1 pound per yard of Nicon (or equal) fiber mesh or equivalent reinforcement. If providing an equivalent, please provide specifications.

4. Blocks will have two 3.5 inch high x 12 inch wide forklift slots in each block. Slots will provide lifting from either side of the block. The forklift points will be centered on the block with outer edge of the slot located 2 foot 6 inches from the outer edges on the 10 foot block and 1 foot from the outer edge on the 5 foot block. The three foot block will have one fork lifting point centered on the bottom of the 3 foot face of the block. The 2 foot block will not have a forklift point. In addition to forklift points, the blocks will also have recessed lifting points on the top surface as depicted in the attached drawing. The 10 foot long blocks will have 2 each recessed lifting points per block and the 5, 3 and 2 foot long block will have one each recessed lift points.

5. All blocks shall have parallel sides and perpendicular edges.

6. Contractor shall be responsible to provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to fabricate, deliver, unload and stack the cured blocks undamaged at Foxtrot Range holding area.

Blocks shall be neatly stacked and remain unbroken. The holding area at foxtrot is natural terrain.

Prime contractor is responsible for any subcontracted work and deliveries.

7. Contractor may perform fabrication on base at the concreted target area. The finished cured blocks will then be delivered to Observation Point 1(OP1) at Foxtrot Range which requires transport approximately 9 miles over semi-improved dirt roads. All entries to the target holding area must be during normal working hours, Monday through Friday 0730 -1600 local. All deliveries to OP1 must be performed around the operational schedule and will be coordinated with Range Operations.

8. Contractor will be responsible for containing any rubbish/waste generated by the work force, work processes or material delivery at the end of each day. The contractor shall remove all contractor-generated rubbish by the end of the contract period.
