About this file

This is a Questions and Answers Sheet that clarifies technical specifications and requirements for aluminum stair treads in solicitation FA480926Q0013 issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command.

The Q&A sheet addresses critical product specifications including tread design with 1-1/8" lips or nosings running the full length of both 45" and 42" treads (with 4" and 9" widths), aluminum finish, anti-slip surfaces, and integrated nosing into the tread cover. Installation will occur on steps. The government clarified that custom-fabricated treads are not required, only tread covers. Hardware specifications include screws with minimum 1/8" diameter and 1-3/4" to 2" length, with flat head style and 1-3/4" length for CLIN 0003. For adhesives and fasteners (CLINs 0003 and 0004), the government confirmed that approved equivalent products are acceptable alternatives to the specifically named brands (Tapcon masonry screws and LOCTITE PL polyurethane adhesive), though equivalents must meet the same performance specifications. No photoluminescent markings are required, no specific brand preference exists for the award, and partial quotes will not be accepted. The solicitation deadline was extended to January 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM EST, with the Questions and Answers Sheet updated on January 23, 2026.
