Text version
APPLICABILITY OF AUTHORITY: Request to compete this brand name requirement due to the fact that the required item must be compatible with the existing fuel hydrant valves in service on the fuel hydrant system. All fuel hydrant valves of this type on the Seymour Johnson AFB system are Cameron General Twin Seal valves. The face to face flange dimensions for the Twin Seal Valves match exactly the face to face dimensions of the valve being replaced. Valves by any other manufacturer would require pipeline modifications which would incur additional costs and delays. Additionally, the liquid fuels maintenance shop maintains replacement valves and parts on-hand standardized for these specific valves and there are no other manufacturers of double block and bleed valves that meet the API 6D standards. Any other brand will not meet the 4th Fighter Wing’s fuel systems requirements and piping retrofits of the current fuel system would be required. This would result in substantial additional cost to the Government that would not be recovered through full and open competition.
