Building 1062 Reverse Osmosis and Water Softening

Statement of Work

FA4801-19-Q-1042

1. OBJECTIVE: Install New Water Heater with two Recirculation Pumps, Reverse

Osmosis and Water Softening capability to service building 1062.

2. SCOPE: The scope of work consists of (to include New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax

(NMGRT)):

a. Contractor will design and provide complete install of individual water softening systems at both the North and South end of the building. Reference Units 1 and 2 below.

Unit 1 – A Water Softener system will be installed in the north mechanical room (Room

57) where it will connect to existing two inch main water line. Contractor will be responsible for installing all required hardware in order to connect the water softener and provide a fully functioning system, including but not limited to pipes and bypass valves to the main line. The softener will be appropriately sized to service up to 13 fixtures to include: 6 sinks, 4 toilets, 2 urinals, a dishwasher, and a 200 gallon per day RO system.

The unit will provide a minimum of 80 gallons per minute and a maximum hardness level of 3.5 grains per gallon. Contractor is responsible for retrieving any required water testing data from the 49 Civil Engineering Squadron or performing their own water testing if required to design the system.

Unit 2 - A Water Softener system will be installed in the south mechanical room (Room

62) where it will connect to existing two inch main water line. Contractor will be responsible for installing all required hardware in order to connect the water softener and provide a fully functioning system, including but not limited to pipes and bypass valves to the main line. The softener will be appropriately sized to service up to 34 fixtures to include: 13 sinks, 9 toilets, 5 urinals, 4 showers, a clothes washer, a dishwasher, and a

200 gallon per day RO system. The unit will provide a minimum of 80 gallons per minute and a maximum hardness level of 3.5 grains per gallon. Contractor is responsible for retrieving any required water testing data from the 49 Civil Engineering Squadron or performing their own water testing if required to design the system.

b. Contractor will design and provide complete install of individual Reverse Osmosis

(RO) drinking systems to service two separate breakrooms (Room 69 and Vault

SNACKO area). Reference Units 3 and 4 below.

Units 3 & 4 – Two separate RO systems will be installed to service two independent breakrooms. Both systems will include all required hardware to have a fully functional system connected to the soft water system installed in this SOW and to the existing RO plumbing in both locations. This hardware will be constructed of RO-compatible material such as PEX or PVC and include, but is not limited to, pipes, connectors, filter housings, filters, faucets, and storage tanks. The north system filters and storage tanks will be installed in the storage closet (Room 39B) with existing drain adjacent to the north breakroom (Vault SNACKO Area). The north install will be connected to existing

RO plumbing in the Vault SNACKO Area. The south system filters and storage tanks will be installed in the south mechanical room (Room 62). The south install will be connected to existing RO plumbing in the breakroom (Room 69). Each unit must provide at least 200 gallons per day of clean RO water to service a sink faucet, a direct line coffee machine, and an Ice Machine that produces 137 lbs/day of ice. The storage tanks will provide a minimum of 20 gallons of useable water.

c. Provide and install a new 50 gallon water heater in the north mechanical room (Room

62). Water heater will include a recirculation pump to service the north side of the building that includes two bathrooms and sink in the Vault SNACKO Area. Additionally, provide and install an additional recirculation pump in the south mechanical room to service the remaining three bathrooms that aren’t serviced by the newly installed recirculation pump.

d. Site Survey will be required.

e. All work may be conducted concurrently with end user pre-coordination and will allow for a phase-based install to coincide with ongoing building renovations.

3. BACKGROUND: Building 1062 is currently undergoing a complete renovation that includes two separate breakrooms, and two completely new bathrooms with showers in addition to the existing 5 bathrooms. The quality of the local water necessitates water softening to preserve appliances as well as flight gear that will be routinely laundered onsite. Additionally, the poor quality of the local water necessitates RO systems in each breakroom to provide adequate drinking water that will include coffee and ice.

Breakrooms are pre-plumbed for RO.

4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMNTS:

4.1 Contractor must be licensed to perform required tasks.

4.2 Contractor(s) must be able to gain entry to Military Installation to perform required tasks.

4.3 Contractor will provide one year’s worth of estimated salt supply for the water softeners as well as one year’s worth of filters for the RO systems.
