About this file
This document contains a series of questions and answers regarding a Department of Defense (DOD) mud boat procurement. Key specifications include a standard mud boat hull design, a 12-gallon fuel tank, top speed of 30 MPH, capacity for 5 passengers, a surface drive engine of 40 HP or larger with tiller steering, and shipping to Ft. Eustis in Newport News, VA. The document clarifies that unlike US Coast Guard recreational vessel requirements, this DOD vessel does not require foam floatation, and no specific seating arrangement is mandated for the five passengers.

QUESTIONS FOR MUD BOAT.
1. Can the government further define “performance step hull design” or give an example. Standard mud boat hull would be ok
2. What are range requirements? 12 gallon fuel tank
3. What are top speed and cruising (economical) speed requirements? 30 MPH
4. What are the seating requirements for the five passengers? Boat capable of carrying 5 pax no particular seating arrangement of seats
5. Surface drive engine 40 HP or larger ------tiller steering or console steering? Tiller
6. Another question is, would you want foam floatation on the boat? US Coast
Guard requires level floatation in all recreational vessels used. Because this boat is going to DOD, it is not required. All prior DOD boats that we have built in the past did not require floatation. Please advise. You are correct this boat being a DOW vessel does not require the foam floatation as required by the USCG. So no foam floatation please.
7. One other question is where does the boat need to be shipped? Ft. Eustis, Newport News- VA
