About this file
This document consists of Questions and Answers related to the cleaning of the firing range at Grand Forks Air Force Base. The firing range cleaning requires the use of High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) vacuums to clean all surfaces, including floors, tables, chairs, rails, target retrieval systems, doors, and window ledges, to ensure they are free of dust particles. The rubber granular bullet trap must be de-leaded and have all bullet materials removed. This cleaning is necessary to decrease health, physical, and fire risks to students, instructors, and facilities due to heavy metal, ricochet, and flammable material exposure during firing.
The document provides details on the frequency of the range cleaning, the timeframe required, and the dimensions of the range. It also confirms that the range has a 3-foot wide access door and no stairs, ramps, or elevators to traverse. The depth of the rubber in the range is 17 inches, and no replacement rubber or fire retardant is needed.
