STATEMENT OF WORK
INSTALLATION OF GAS RANGE, HOOD (WITH FIRE SUPRESSION SYSTEM) AND EXHAUST FAN
B633 Fire Hall
WO# 74009
7 September 2017
1. GENERAL: The contractor shall confirm and verify all materials, plans, labor, equipment and measurements/specifications for completion of this contract. The Contractor shall install and perform operational tests of government owned, commercial gas-fired range and oven, and one commercial exhaust hood. The Contractor shall purchase, install and perform operational tests of an ANSUL R-102 (or equal) fire suppression system, for the gas-fired range and exhaust hood system. The contractor shall provide all materials, plans, labor, equipment and supervision necessary to do the following: Contractor shall verify all measurements and specifications within this Statement of Work.
2. PRINCIPAL FEATURES: The work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, the following within
Building 633 Fire Hall:
2.1. Demolition:
2.1.1. The contractor shall remove and dispose of current residential kitchen hood system and ducting.
2.1.1.1. The contractor shall remove and dispose of existing soffit and casework above range.
2.1.1.2. The contractor shall remove and dispose of existing obstructions around the range.
2.1.2. The contractor shall remove existing exhaust ducting associated with the old kitchen hood.
2.1.3. The contractor shall disconnect and remove existing range and oven. The contractor shall move the range and oven to B418 Receiving for storage.
2.1.4. The contractor shall disconnect and remove existing range and oven electrical hardware as needed.
2.1.5. Contractor shall move the government purchased equipment from the storage room in B633 to the installation location. Contractor shall coordinate with on-site, Fire Department personnel for access to storage room.
List of Government Provided Equipment
2.2. Installation of government owned gas-fired range & oven, commercial kitchen hood. Installation shall be according to all local state and local electrical codes and safety regulations, as well as the National
Electrical Code (NEC), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), and the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA) Bulletin 96. Contractor shall purchase and supply one pre-piped Ansul
R-102 (or equal) fire suppression system. Contractor shall follow installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. Contractor shall install the associated materials listed in this section. Description of equipment below:
2.2.1. Exhaust Hood:
2.2.1.1. Dayton Exhaust Hood. Model #20UD06; Government furnished.
2.2.1.1.1. Dimensions: 60”L X 54W”X 27”H.
2.2.1.1.2. Front perforated supply air system
2.2.1.1.3. Filter description: 20” Tall X 16” W SS solo Filter with hook (Capstrate or equal).
Must be ETL listed. Particulate capture Efficiency: 93% at 9 microns, 72% efficient at
5 microns.
2.2.1.1.4. Canopy Light Fixture: High Temperature Rated Electrical Assembly; Globe, clear shock resistant; LED Light install kit, 120V AC, wired to electrical control panel (ECP) to building lighting controls; Included are wire, junction box, hardware and labels.
2.2.1.1.5. Exhaust Riser: factory installed 10” diameter. Contractor shall install the associated materials listed in this section. Contractor shall provide materials necessary to mate rise with exhaust piping on the roof.
2.2.1.1.6. Backsplash Panel: 80”high by 85” long made from 430 SS. The dimensions of height and/or length of the backsplash panel may be adjusted by the contractor.

2.2.1.2. Exhaust Fan Assembly: Government furnished. High speed direct drive centrifugal up-blast exhaust fan with speed control (speed control included for single phase only), disconnect switch and 15-3/4" wheel. Contractor shall follow installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.
2.2.1.2.1.1. Exhaust Fan Specifications: 1200 CFM @ -1.250", Fan runs at 1268
RPM. Dim. 28.3” High; 32.9” DIA.
2.2.1.2.1.2. Exhaust Motor: 0.750 HP, 3 Phase 208 V, 60Hz, 2.6 FLA, ODP (Open
Drip Proof)
2.2.1.2.1.3. Electrical Installation: Contractor shall provide electrical connections to exhaust fan and all associated electrical work including conduit, wire, boxes, and fire alarm connections.
2.2.1.2.1.4. Ducting Installation- provide duct connections from hood to exhaust fan.
Installation shall require mounting the exhaust fan on the roof. Contractor shall make a roof penetration to install the required ducting. Contractor shall be required to seal this penetration to prevent any leakage of water through roof for all weather conditions.
2.2.1.3. GAS RANGE, 60" in length, 6 BURNERS, 24" GRIDDLE: Vulcan Endurance
Restaurant Range Model #SKU 60SS-6B24GN, Serial Number# 481864694. Government furnished. Contractor shall follow installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.
2.2.1.3.1.1. Burners: six, 30,000 BTU/H burners, with lift-off heads,
2.2.1.3.1.2. Griddle: 24” wide, 7/8” thick, 4”wide front grease trough.
2.2.1.3.1.3. Ovens: two, standard oven bases, stainless steel front and sides.
2.2.1.3.1.4. Shelf: high self with back-riser
2.2.1.3.1.5. 6" adjustable legs with casters
2.2.1.3.1.6. Spark igniter with flame safety device, for open top burners, thermostatic griddles & oven pilots.
2.2.1.3.1.7. Natural Gas Connection Kit: full port valve, (2) 90° elbows, coiled restraining cable with hardware, 334,000 BTU/hr. minimum flow capacity.
Contractor shall install natural gas connections and pressure regulator. Contractor shall follow installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.
2.2.1.3.1.8. Natural Gas Connection: Contractor shall connect range to building natural gas supply. Contractor shall provide and install gas connections to range and all associated gas installation work including piping and pipe fittings, as needed. The suggested length of pipe run is approximately 35 feet. See Figure 1.
2.2.1.3.1.8.1. Stub out to compression fitting on incoming gas line to kitchen for a possible connection to gas grill located on patio. The additional length of pipe run is approximately 45 feet. See Figure 1.
2.2.1.3.1.8.2. Paint the new natural gas piping to OSHA labeling standard for flammable fluids. Black text on yellow for existing exterior natural gas piping.
2.2.1.3.1.9. Electrical Installation: contractor shall provide and install electrical connections to range and all associated electrical work including conduit, wire, boxes, and fire alarm connections as needed.
2.2.1.4. Fire System: Contractor shall purchase and install an ANSUL R-102 fire suppression system (or equal), Contractor shall follow installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. System shall include:
2.2.1.4.1. Utility Cabinet, included with pre-piped system, shall be installed within hood
2.2.1.4.2. Fire system to include: detection system, fire suppressant storage tank(s), fire suppressant release mechanism, fire suppressant dispersive system, micro-switches and a pull station.
2.2.1.4.3. Fire suppression system to include installation of the mechanical gas valve. Size of gas valve to be specified by manufacturer and installed by contractor personnel.
Location of the valve should be near the hood cooking line or the edge of the hood closest to where cooking personnel might stand.
2.2.1.4.3.1. Electrical Installation: contractor shall provide and install electrical connections to fire suppression system and all associated electrical work including conduit, wire, boxes, and fire alarm connections.
2.2.2. Installation continued: The contractor shall verify all materials, plans, labor, equipment and measurements necessary to complete this installation. Contractor shall provide a one hour training session for the Fire Suppression Equipment to 2- 4 GFAFB personnel.
2.2.2.1. Contractor shall receive permission to perform work in this area. Contractor shall coordinate with Contracting Officer (KO) of this project (or a KO designated person) to avoid any conflicts with current projects being executed by other contractors in the same area.
2.2.2.2. Housekeeping: The Contractor shall keep all facilities and work areas clean and neat
IAW industry, Occupational, Safety and Administration (OSHA), fire and safety standards.
3. PREWORK REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall perform a pre-work inspection of the project’s work area. If defective items are found or not shown/noted on provided drawings and not previously identified in the project, then it shall be documented on the contractor’s daily Quality Control report and reported to Civil
Engineering’s Project Inspector assigned to the contract.
4. CONSTRUCTION/SITE MANAGEMENT: The contractor shall perform a final cleanup and repair of the work area, including but not limited to, any damage done to adjacent grounds, pavements or structures. Any damage shall be repaired and returned to conditions matching those before the contractor began work on this contract.
5. SPECIFICATIONS: All work shall be accomplished according to Corps of Engineer Specifications, Engineering Technical Letters, Unified Facilities Criteria, and any manufacturer’s specification associated with materials and supplies (e.g. UBC, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, ANSI C2, and MIL Handbook 1190) found at www.wbdg.com. Additionally, al work shall follow the Health
Facilities Division Quality Design Guide (March 2015). In the event of a conflict between any of the specifications or codes, the most stringent standard shall apply.
6. DRAWINGS: As-built drawings are required before final payment of this contract shall be made. As-built drawings depicting the existing conditions prior are available upon request from the Base Civil Engineering.
7. SUBMITTALS: See Appendix 1.
7.1. Equipment manuals. Material submittal for piping and insulation for back of hood and backsplash shall be required for evaluation prior to the notice to proceed.
7.2. Gantt Schedule and Installation methods.
7.3. Operation and maintenance data collected during startup of equipment.
7.4. As-Built Record Documents showing actual changes to the facility. The contractor shall provide, as a minimum, single line electrical, mechanical, and/or civil shop drawings of changes due to the completed renovation.
7.5. Parts lists and maintenance instructions, lubrication requirements, and inspection procedures related to preventative maintenance.
8. PERMITS: The contractor shall obtain all applicable construction permits including but not limited to AF
Form 103 Work Clearance Request and utility prints for the work site, welding; burn permit, and any permits or licenses required for the removal of hazardous materials.
9. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS: Records do not indicate that these facilities may contain hazardous materials. However, if a hazardous material is suspected the contractor’s proposal shall include appropriate measures for reporting the situation to the KO or KO representative.
10. PROTECTION OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY: The contractor shall use care to avoid damaging existing building, equipment and vegetation on the government installation. lf the contractor fails to use care and causes damage to any of this property, the contractor shall replace or repair the damage at no expense to the government as the contracting officer directs. If the contractor fails or refuses to make such repair or replacement, the contractor shall be liable for the cost which may be deducted from the contract price.
11. GENERAL SECURITY: Security requirements for Air Force facilities under control of Grand Forks Air
Force Base are specific and rigidly enforced. Levels of security include Restricted and Controlled areas.
Differing degrees of security are enforced at each area. Minimum security requirements, common not only to each of these secure areas, are also required for entry onto Grand Forks AFB. These minimum requirements are outlined below.
12. PROJECT AREA: This contract shall entail Base Entry requirements. While on-site, contractor shall, at times, be working in a restricted area. Escorts will be required when working in restricted areas. Escorts will be provided by GFAFB personnel. Restricted areas are indicated as the boxed portions in Figure 2.
