About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for federal solicitation FA462626Q0026, issued on 17 June 2026, addressing inquiries regarding a JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) simulator and training system opportunity with Malmstrom Air Force Base and Air Force Global Strike Command.

The document clarifies several key requirements and specifications for the simulator project. There are no existing contract vehicles or previous contracts for a JLTV simulator. The delivery schedule has been extended from 90 days after date of award to 6 months after award. The Air Force prioritizes OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and realistic driving experience over specific aesthetic requirements, with no preference for whether the trainer has an open or closed cab structure. Regarding technical specifications, there is no preference for the game engine or graphics engine used, the transmission requirement is for a virtual 6-speed automatic transmission rather than an actual JLTV transmission, and TrueSteer Technology is not required for this procurement.

Questions and Answers 17 June 2026

Solicitation: FA462626Q0026

1. Whether there are existing contract vehicles, vendor qualification requirements, or other mechanisms through which we should be registered or positioned to support future simulator and training system opportunities with Malmstrom AFB and Air Force Global Strike Command?

a. There are no existing contract vehicles or previous contracts regarding a JLTV simulator.

2. I see delivery is expected 90 days post award. Is this timeline accurate?

a. The delivery schedule has been updated to extend from 90 days after date of award (ADA) to 6-month ADA.

3. There is no mention of an enclosing vehicle cab structure. Does the Air Force wish for this to have the look and feel of the JLTV, or just a generic looking, open driver trainer with some specific JLTV parts?

a. Our main focus is the OEM parts. Whether it’s open cab or closed, we just need the driving experience as realistic as possible.

4. Is there a preference for the IG or gaming engine used?

a. No Preference

5. The list also includes a 6-speed automatic transmission – confirming this is a virtual transmission and you do not want the actual JLTV transmission?

a. Yes, just a virtual automatic transmission.

6. Does the requirement still need the TrueSteer Technology?

a. No
