FA4626-14-R-0018, Repair Fire Suppression 5 buildings Clarification Questions 2 17 Jul 2014
1. As far as trying to turn the walls into a 1hr rating there is a considerable amount of conduit, boxes, panels, plumbing and ducting on the walls shown that there is no way to add sheetrock to these areas to achieve what is being asked for without removing them and then drywall and then reinstall all of the above. This occurs at wall type C on A-1 detail 5. Also on wall type C on A-1 detail 4. What action should be taken?
At walls requiring additional gypsum board for 1-hour rating; contractor shall determine if it is necessary to remove existing equipment to perform the wall modification. Contractor shall temporarily support existing equipment, panels, piping, conduits, and devices as necessary for installation of new gypsum board. Remove and re-install any mechanical, electrical, or plumbing which cannot be temporarily relocated and or supported. Contractor shall re-install and permanently affix any dislocated equipment after new wall has been constructed. Existing material may be reused if not damaged and conforms with current code requirements. Any un-used conduits, pipes, etc. may be removed without need for re-installation. This statement applies to all new/existing rebuilt walls within the project scope.
2. Wondering why all frames are being called out to be grouted thru out all Bldgs.-see Steel Door Institute SDI 127I-04?
Grouted frames will not be required at new rated doors.
