About this file

This file is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document providing clarifications to vendor inquiries regarding RFQ FA462526Q1022 for an Electric Walk-Behind Forklift being solicited by the U.S. Air Force 509th Contracting Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base.

The Q&A addresses eight key specification questions from potential vendors. Regarding equipment condition, refurbished or reconditioned units are acceptable, though new units are preferred. The forklift must achieve a minimum lift height as close as possible to 127.5 inches, though the actual storage height to be accessed is 80 inches. The equipment must be a walk-behind reach truck configuration (not counterbalance) due to space constraints, capable of maneuvering within 96-inch-wide aisles. Required attachments include variable reach function, tine spread function, and tilt capability. No specific battery type is mandated, though the Government considers low-maintenance AGM and lithium batteries favorably. The forklift must meet the baseline requirement of 3,000 pounds lifting capacity and 24-volt electric battery power as specified in the original RFQ. This Q&A document serves as Amendment 1 to the solicitation and provides essential technical clarifications to ensure vendor proposals align with the Government's operational needs at Whiteman AFB.

Text version

1. Can the required forklift be a certified refurbished / reconditioned unit, or must it be factory‑new?

Yes. New preferred, not required.

2. Is the Government requiring the full 189-inch lift height, or is a lower height acceptable if all other specs are met?

Minimum lift height must be as near as possible to 127.5”.

3. Is a reach-style walk‑behind stacker acceptable, or must it be a counterbalance configuration?

Walk behind reach truck required due to low maneuverable space.

4. Are there any required attachments (side-shift, reach, tilt), or only standard forks?

Must have variable reach function. Need tine spread function. Needs tilt.

5. Does the Government require a specific battery type? (AGM, lead-acid, lithium?)

No known requirement: consideration of low maintenance AGM and Lithium batteries.

6. Is 124” of lift sufficient?

Minimum lift height must be as near as possible to 127.5”.

7. What minimum width of the aisles it will be used in?

Must be able to maneuver in a 96” width.

8. What is the height of the tallest storage position that needs to be accessed using the walkie stacker?

80”, however minimum height requested as 127.5” for maneuverability over objects.
