About this file
This document contains the Government's responses to Requests for Information (RFI) for Solicitation FA462024QA316 - MX Liners. The solicitation is for a contractor to provide and install a heavy-duty non-slip coating on two elevated aircraft maintenance stands, with a total area of approximately 1,050 square feet.
The key details provided in the responses include:
- The platform material is a layer of plastic on top of plywood.
- The total area for the two stands is 1,500 square feet.
- There are 8 steps that need to be repaired.
- The Government can provide additional photos, but a site visit was offered that generated no attendees.
- The Government does not want the contractor's personnel to apply the coating material, as it would require additional hazardous material handling.
- The Government is open to the contractor providing an aluminum plate with factory-installed non-slip surface as an alternative to the coating, as long as it meets the Statement of Work/Performance Work Statement requirements.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
HEADQUARTERS 92D AIR REFUELING WING (AMC)
FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE WASHINGTON
3 July 2024
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
FROM: 92 CONS
SUBJECT: Request(s) for Information (RFI) for Solicitation FA462024QA316 – MX Liners
1. The following questions were presented by interested parties, and have subsequently been answered by the customer:
a. Q: What type of metal is the base material made of?
A: The platform material is a layer of plastic on top of plywood
b. Q: Is each stand 1,050 sf or is the total for both stands 1,050 sf.
A: The total is 1500 Sq ft
c. Q: How many steps need to be repaired?
A: 8 steps
d. Q: Is it possible for you to send more photos?
A: We can provide additional photos, but this was the intent behind the site visit offered in the solicitation that generated zero attendees.
e. Q: Considering there may be other slip hazards that are being considered for correction, would your superiors be interested to purchase a system and have personnel trained to apply the coating by those trained personnel?
A: No - Having the members apply the material would bring in extra stuff for hazardous material handling and SDS. It would be best if the company could take off the damaged section and repair it themselves or do an on-site repair. Each stand is broken down into smaller sections on top.
f. Q: Would the Air Force consider the possibility of using aluminum plate with factory installed nonskid on the top surface, cut to fit, and installed directly over the existing surfaces?
A: Please provide IAW the Statement of Work/Performance Work Statement. The maintenance stands get covered in hydro, oil, and fuel so it wears away a lot of other materials.
