About this file

This file is a salient characteristics document describing the Ascent AeroSystems Spirit unmanned aircraft system with integrated Gremsy VIO F1 payload for the associated pre-solicitation notice FA461326Q1050. The Department of the Air Force, 90th Contracting Squadron at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming, issued this pre-solicitation for a Total Small Business Set-Aside contract under NAICS code 336411 (Aircraft Manufacturing, 1,000 employee size standard) and Federal Supply Code 1550 (Unmanned Aircraft). The requirement specifies delivery of two Ascent AeroSystem Spirit Base Kits and two Gremsy VIO F1 Payload Modules to support real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) training for Security Forces personnel at the 90th Ground Combat Training Squadron, Camp Guernsey, Wyoming.

The Spirit aircraft demonstrates substantial operational capabilities including flight endurance of up to 58 minutes with dual batteries, IP56 environmental rating, and Class 8 wind resistance (40+ mph). The system operates at altitudes up to 14,600 feet with manual speeds exceeding 60 mph and provides ground control range up to 20 kilometers using Herelink control stations. The integrated Gremsy VIO F1 gimbal payload includes 4K electro-optical zoom camera, 640×512 radiometric thermal imaging, 2.4 kilometer laser rangefinder, object tracking, and geopointing capabilities. The coaxial airframe supports maximum payload capacity of 6.5 pounds, enabling integration of advanced sensors and communications equipment. All items are subject to Buy American Act and Trade Agreements Act compliance requirements.

Ascent AeroSystems Spirit UAV with Gremsy VIO F1 Payload Salient characteristics

· Flight endurance – The Spirit’s endurance depends on the number of batteries: one battery provides ~38 min with no payload and 16 min with maximum payload, while two batteries extend endurance to 58 min with no payload and 32 min with maximum payload. Hot‑swappable batteries allow rapid turnaround.

· Wind resistance & environmental robustness – Spirit is IP56‑rated and tested for Class 8 wind resistance (40 mph+). It can operate at altitudes up to 14,600 ft and achieves manual speeds > 60 mph (recommended 40 mph in autopilot).

· Payload capacity – The coaxial design supports a maximum payload of 6.5 lb (approx. 3 kg), sufficient for advanced sensors and communications equipment.

· Controller range & communications – Using the Herelink ground control, Spirit offers a range up to 20 km (≈12 mi) and two‑ to four‑hour controller battery life. The aircraft’s open architecture enables encrypted digital links and compatibility with third‑party radios.

· Camera resolution/zoom – The Gremsy VIO F1 gimbal integrates a 4K electro‑optical zoom camera, a 640 × 512 radiometric thermal imager and a 2.4 km laser rangefinder. It includes object‑tracking and geo‑pointing features.
