About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for project B10577, Room 307, specifically addressing a carpet and base installation query. The question concerns the scope of work calling for 5" carpet with a bound base, which conflicts with an existing wood base in the area. The contractor previously confirmed the area was checked for asbestos, with negative test results. The specific question raised is whether there are potential asbestos concerns if the wood base must be removed, given it was not removed during a previous abatement. The official response directly states that there should not be any asbestos-containing material (ACM) under or behind the existing wood base.

B10577 Rm 307 Q&A
Q1. The Scope calls out for 5” carpet to be bound as Base (similar to the corridor), however, there is a wood base throughout. We were told this area had been checked for asbestos and results came back negative. Question is, if the base has to be removed is there concerns about residual asbestos behind/under the wood base since it appears the base was not removed during the previous abatement?
A. There should not be any ACM under or behind the existing wood base.
