Buck and Rail Fence Solicitation Vendor Questions with Requester Answers
FA461024Q0043
Vendor Questions Answered:
Q: Is 5.5”and 3.5” size an average or a minimum? I understand you are looking for doweled (uniform diameter) as normally this is just one size across the pole.
A: We need 2,000 feet of 3 rail untreated buck fence with screws that is ready to assemble.
Q: Regarding the requirement, “Rot-resistant wood must be pre-notched and assembly-ready”, is it necessary for the buck sets to be treated?
A: No treatment. The fence is being installed in an environmentally preserved, historic location surrounded by desert chapparal and ocean near wet conditions. Sealant is not permitted as it risks contamination of the ground. Rot resistant woods resilient to exterior projects will endure the natural elements, long-term. Also, the whole point of this fence style is that it sits on top of the ground (so no ground penetration). This is a very delicate area and we don’t want the ground disturbed.
Q: Will the government have a forklift onsite to offload the material?
A: No. The awardee should arrange for the delivery driver to have access to a forklift to offload materials.
Q: Is there any prior clearance paper required to submit prior to getting access on base?
A: Yes. This will be coordinated with the awardee prior to delivery. Delivery personnel accessing Vandenberg Space Force Base will go through base Visitor Center security forces access requirements.
Q: Is it possible to reassign the set aside to SDVOSB?
A: Unfortunately, no. The 100% Small Business set-aside status has been formally established, approved, and recorded by the Vandenberg Space Force Base Small Business Office. However, the Small Business (SB) approval includes any and all small business socioeconomic categories to compete for this requirement.
Q: Can a photo be provided depicting what the fence wood is expected to look like?
A:
