SUBJECT: SLD 30 HQ Console Furniture (Notice ID: FA461024PCNLF)
1. While the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation does not indicate GSA, the SOW says that the purchase will be made through a GSA contract vehicle. We do not have a GSA contract but we are on the CMAS, Omnia and NCPA contracts. We have also completed projects directly for VAFB and as a subcontractor to another furniture vendor. Would we be able to bid direct under one of these available contracts for the console furniture?
Answer: Yes. The SOW will be changed from requiring GSA contract vehicles to allowing open market supply of deliverables.
2. In our experience, the electrical requirements noted in the Scope are unusual for a console / furniture vendor to include. We do not have an electrician on staff that can hardwire and connect to the building power in the adjacent room, nor do we have an internal IT team capable of connecting the Cat6 cabling.
These items are usually completed by EC / IT with details & coordination being provided by our team.
Is it possible to have the electrical / IT separated to be bid by the appropriate vendors or to have VAFB staff electrical / IT work with the console vendor?
Answer: Successful offeror will be required to hire an electrical contractor to make final connection for power at each of the power poles. Currently there is one known location of existing power in the ceiling (electrical junction box) in the general area of the new connections that previously supported 6-8 stations. The government has verified that there is adequate power in the area (power panels) that will support this requirement but the contractor may need to run new conduit, wire and junction boxes to support this effort.
As stated in the SOW "The console design will contain 2-CAT6 shielded cables terminated at each position to the shielded keystones at each position. The data cabling shall be routed via the ceiling through a power/data pole to the adjacent equipment room (207B) and terminated at the patch panel.”
Meaning we require 2 qty female RJ-45 terminations at each station, and female RJ-45 terminations at the other end of the cables at a patch panel in room C207 server room. We also requested 8 qty cables ran and terminated from the southeast corner of the room to the server room patch panel.” Contractor shall be responsible to install CAT6 cabling as stated.
3. Can you confirm the removal and recycling of the existing furniture will be completed by another vendor?
Answer: Yes, a separate contract for modular furniture at this location will remove the furniture in the room.
4. Can you confirm the hardwired power at the existing furniture will be pulled back and terminated at the closest junction box in the wall or above the ceiling?
Answer: Yes, once furniture is removed, cabling and wires shall be removed by user prior to console installation.
5. Please confirm Contractor will NOT be responsible for dismantling and removal of existing furniture as noted in 2.0 Scope on Page 3 of Attachment 1 – Statement of Work 08282024?
Answer: Yes, a separate contract for modular furniture at this location will remove the furniture in the room.
6. Is a horizontal mounted versa Trak acceptable vs. vertical mounted slatwall? Solution to meet all functional requirements in compliance with “represent the best value for the Government based on meeting price, technical acceptability and period of performance” as stated Section 5 – Evaluation Factors on Page 2 of Combined Synopsis Solicitation. Similar solutions are deployed throughout Vandenberg SFB.
Answer: Yes, this acceptable.
7. Recommend ventilated steel front and rear doors/panels for improved airflow. Is this acceptable?
Answer: Yes, a ventilated steel front and rear doors/panels for improved airflow is acceptable.
8. Request extension of Bid Deadline 1:00pm PDT September 18, 2024 by one to two weeks. Is this acceptable?
Answer: No, we are unable to extend deadlines.
