FA4608-14-R-0005, QUESTIONS FROM SITE VISIT

QUESTION 1.

It appears the bid is based upon page 34 Appendix A Estimated Work Load on its tonnage projections?

Also in appendix C want to clarify I'm interpreting it properly, all the containers will be provided by our company? The containers will be 8 yard containers and that the "No. Cont. Location" means how many that will be provided at each location?? Because I had read on page 30 under number (2) we would provide (8) right yard containers?

ANSWER TO QUESTION 1.

1. The bid is not based on the estimated workload. Appendix A is for the contractors to see the estimated amounts expected to be picked up from all the containers on base in a one year period. The estimates are based on previous year's collections and also used to estimate profits for the commodities collected. Although the government’s goal is to collect as many recyclables as possible, the quantities are expected to go up or down from that estimate.

2. In appendix C, all containers on the list are 8 CY containers provided by the contractor. There are a few exceptions where the users have asked for 3 CY containers and the government is providing those containers. The number under the column "Cont" reflects the number of containers at a specific location. The main Recycling Drop Off Center, 4946, has a total of 12 containers. Most other locations have only one except for two other locations that have two containers because of the volume collected.

QUESTION 2.

Could you please specify what type of recycling material is going to be the opportunity with Air Base?

ANSWER TO QUESTION 2.

The main recycling materials going into the brown recycling containers on base are:

Corrugated cardboard, brown bags, office paper, junk mail, magazines, books, catalogs, phone books, and any other clean paper products.

Also beverage bottles (PET#1), plastic jugs (HDPE#2), any plastics with the triangular recycling symbol and aluminum and tin cans.

All the above items are being collected comingled in the same containers and sorted and separated by the contractor at an off base facility.

All bidding contractors are expected to collect the same types of recyclables.
