QUESTIONS and ANSWERS (Q & A)
24 AUGUST 2015
REPAIR HVAC, B185, RM 310
Question: The spec book calls for flushing of the new lines. Will chemical treatment/flushing be required on this project?
Answer: Flushing with clean water is required per the specs. See 23 05 00 section 3.3.
Question: What type of glycol is in the existing system?
Answer: Propylene Glycol and it is a 40% mixture (40% glycol/60% water)
Question: Is EMT allowable under the floor or will seal-tite be required for the entire length of the feeder?
Answer: Seal-Tite is required for the length of cable under the raised floor. EMT is acceptable above the raised floor.
Question: The general note states that we must core drill, link-seal and fire caulk all stub wall penetrations below the raised floor. Is the wall between L340 and L310 concrete?
Answer: The wall under the floor between L310 and L340 is NOT concrete, per the attached as built drawings. A102 shows the layout and the wall type callout (2A) which is found on sheet A501, note that R/38 is flagged in the area and the description of R/38 is on sheet A102, right hand side and it calls out wall type JS also found on A501. Therefore there is no core drilling involved, contractor is still required to seal the penetration per spec. (NOTE: Sheets A501 and A102 are provided as attachments to the Q & A)
