This document appears to be a set of questions and answers related to the procurement of biobased propylene glycol for use in boiler systems at Minot Air Force Base. The key details are:
The solicitation is seeking 3,000 gallons of 95-98% biobased propylene glycol to be used as a heat transfer fluid in boiler systems. The glycol must meet certain technical specifications, though the specific corrosion inhibitor package is not detailed. The procurement will be conducted by the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The document does not provide information on response dates, award dates, pricing terms, set asides, or incumbents. Propylene Glycol Q&A
• Confirming Biobased Propylene Glycol is technical grade material.
· The glycol does need to be a biobased product and there are multiple brands that meet this technical specification on the market.
• What is the corrosion inhibitor package, there are many formulas in the market.
· Each manufacturer has their own formula that they use and they do not actually list what products they use to meet the corrosion inhibiter specifications.
• What are the USDA bio based standards, does the facility need to be USDA certified?
· I don’t know the whole process on how the manufactures go about getting their product certified through the USDA. I know that it has to meet a certain percentage of using biobased products.
• What are the product specification in full? Do you have a COA to review?
· This should be 95 to 98% bio based propylene glycol for boiler systems heat transfer fluid, premixed with <5% corrosion inhibitors, dyed green, and pre-diluted with< 5% deionized water to a freeze protection of -60 degrees F, and meet USDA certified bio based standards.
• What packaging? Is this a BULK requirement or totes, drums?
· We prefer Bulk material
• What documentation will be needed for the customer?
· Product speciation’s of the material being provided.
• Will your team be responsible for the installation / filling of the boiler system or are you also needing labor?
· The contractor will just pump the glycol into a 3000 gallon holding tank.
