About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract for ballistic protection renovations at five military sites. The work includes renovating flight security controller offices, storage rooms, and bathrooms with products like flooring, bullet-resistant windows and doors, Kevlar paneling, painting, ceilings, countertops, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. One escort will be available initially with the potential for more depending on workload. Limited vehicle parking and small to medium contractor trailers will be allowed onsite. Safety fencing and field offices are not required. The superintendent can act as quality control and safety officer for up to 30 days. Government relocation between temporary and renovated offices will take one workday. The sites are located across four counties in two states. Ceramic tile flooring in fair condition exists. Questions:

1) How do we get the working hours changed from 7:30am thru 4:00pm Monday thru Friday to

7:00am thru 5:00pm Monday thru Thursday? With work being performed at remote locations and to save on travel to/from site we would purpose to work on the modified work schedule from Monday thru Thursday instead of Monday thru Friday.

Answer: Work hours will not be changed.

2) There is not a wall type listed for elevator room walls, basically the interior walls only. Are those walls required to have the Kevlar panels?

Answer: The elevator shaft walls do not require panels.

3) How many escorts/inspectors will be available for this project?

Answer: One escort is available at this time. Additional escorts can be addressed later based on workload.

4) Will we have a staging area for this project, is so how big and location?

Answer: There is limited vehicle parking available on‐site and off‐site. Small‐medium contractor trailers are typically allowed to remain onsite during the duration of the project.

5) Will safety fencing/field office be required on this project as stated in specification 01 50 00?

Answer: Safety fencing and field office is not required.

6) With this small of a project, can the Project Superintendent act as Quality Control Person and

Site Safety Health Officer or do we need to employ a separate SSHO as stated in specification 01

35 26?

Answer: Per Spec Section 01 35 26, para. 1.5.2.1.3, the Superintendent can act as SSHO for a period of no more than 30 days annually.

7) How long will it take the gov’t to move out of the FSC Office into the temp office? And the opposite?

Answer: In the past it has taken ≈1 workday.

8) Are all 5 sites located within Ward County?

Answer: No. MAFs Kilo‐01 and Mike‐01 are in Ward County, MAF Lima‐01 is in Burke County, MAF November‐01 is in Renville County, and MAF Oscar‐01 is in Bottineau County.

9) What type of flooring material is in vestibule 107 at each of the sites and what shape is the flooring in?

Answer: Flooring is ceramic tile in fair condition.

10) Does the 100 amp 2 pole breakers for the temporary trailer need to be left in existing electrical gear or can it be moved from site to site as they are finished?

Answer: The MMPP has a spare 100A breaker already installed in the MMPP. This breaker can be used or the contractor may choose to use their own. The existing spare 100A breaker must be left / put back (if removed to install the contractor’s breaker) when the project is completed and the temporary trailer is removed.

11) Do we need to demo the temporary four‐inch conduit with ¾” inner duct in note 15 on sheet

E2.00 of temporary trailer notes when the work is done or will the conduit above the ceiling be abandoned in place and only the conduits below the ceiling be demoed out to the temporary trailer?

Answer: The 4” conduit is a temporary installation and must be removed when the site is complete. All penetrations created by the contractor must be repaired and restored with sheetrock, paint, etc.

12) Is there a certain type of push button that is required to match Note 6 on the demolition part of sheet E2.00? Maybe a part number or some other type of identification?

Answer: See Detail B, Sheet E2.00, “Door Release Console,” Sheet Notes‐New Work, Note 1.

13) What is the distance from the distribution panel ‘MMPP’ to the temporary trailer electrical panel?

Answer: The location of the MMPP is different at each site. It also depends on the temporary trailer selected by the contractor and the position of the temporary trailer at each site. A rough estimate would be somewhere between 25’ to 100’.

14) What is the Make and Model number of the existing MMPP?

Answer: See image on next page.
