FA4460‐16‐B‐0005 (Rpr/Sus Roofs CES Admin/Shops B‐536;Rpr/Sus Roofs CES Shops B‐540)
SOW 2.03. B.31. The DESIGN-BUILD Firm shall provide lighting protection. Lighting protection shall be attached using non-penetrating clamps.
Q: Is there a LRAFB standard of design for this request?
Q: Is the DESIGN-BUILD Firm to protect/incorporate the adjacent tower elements as well?
SOW 2.02 D- Remove all penetrations and associated equipment that are no longer in use as identified on Attachment 1 and/or verified on pre-bid site visit.
Q. Though this was not verified at site visit are there any record drawings specifying existing penetrations to be removed?
SOW 2.03 B 11. The DESIGN-BUILD Firm shall provide a roof slope no less than 4:12, and a roof system compatible with other sloping metal roofs in the area.
Q: The design impact of the new roof system sloping at 4:12 could increase lateral loading significantly on the existing framing. A new SSMR (Standing Seam Metal Roof) panel system can be installed at a slope of ½:12.
Can we reduce the min. slope to reduce the increase in lateral loading?
Q: If not ½:12, can we at least match the current SSMR slope of the east side of the building? (see attached image)
SOW 2.22. The DESIGN-BUILD Firm shall provide thermal insulation. Provide a thermal resistance “R” value of 38 or more. Flexible blanket, rigid, or semi-rigid faced with a flexible vapor retarder. Vapor retarder shall be an ice/water guard membrane underlayment. Insulation and facing shall have a flame spread rating of 50 or less in accordance with ASTM E 84.
Vapor retarder facing shall have a permeance rating of 0.05 perm or less.
Q: Reaching the R-38 insulation can be completed with several different material choices. However, by doing this and the results may establish different dew points if the existing kraft paper insulation is to remain (See attached image). Will LRAFB consider alternatives to this SOW once a team is established under Design Development?
SOE 2.33. The Design-Build Firm shall provide a permanent lighted catwalk and heat detectors in the design of the attic space. The roof design shall provide adequate access for
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1239715393C Text Box Answer: Please see Section 01 10 01 paragraph 2.07 for lightning protection details required. Certification is required.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: Yes.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: No. This will have to be verified during the design process.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: Yes, it would be acceptable to match the existing slope and profile of the existing metal roof of B-540 and yes, the existing metal panels shall be replaced with new panels for a continuous roofing application, warranty, etc
1239715393C Text Box Answer: The D/B Firm shall be responsible for an R-38. Where and what materials used can be determined during the design process.
maintenance and removal of all mechanical, electrical, and communication equipment designed to be left in place on the existing roof.
Q: If approval for a lower slope roof is granted under SOW 2.03 B 11 can this item be deleted? Our proposed solution would be to place all equipment above the completed roof plane.
Q: Can LRAFB offer additional record drawings of any structural or roof conditions for Building 540 and 536?
Q: Roof decking is 6” wood plank decking and not metal decking as stated in SOW. Can we replace with like-kind wood decking?
Q: Please confirm that the SOW will require The DESIGN-BUILD Firm to extend the existing skylights through the new roof assembly? Will LRAFB allow the substitution of installing Solar Tubes in like for like locations with the D-B firm providing interior repairs where necessary to integrate the new size.
Q: Are the awnings above the doors (and below the main roof surfaces) included in the SOW?
Q: Are the canopy roofs included in the project?
Q: What are the intended access hours of the base?
Q: Is Rapid Gate access available for contractors?
Q: What are the contractor working hours and days of week?
Q: Does the base have any standard closures for working days?
1239715393C Text Box Answer: No, a lighted cat walk will still be required to check heat detectors, etc.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: As-builts are not available for either facility.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: Yes, replacing with similar material is acceptable.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: Extend the existing skylights, Solar Tubes are not acceptable.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: No, the awnings are not acceptable.
1239715393C Text Box Answer: No the canopies are not included.
