Salient Characteristics for
60 MXS/MXMD
Rack Mount Calibration Equipment
60 MXS / MXMD requires four complete 35U 19” EIA equipment racks for process improvement in the calibration of signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power measurement, and avionics equipment certification IAW 33K10-4-2-10.
The contractor shall provide the following:
Four 35U 19” EIA equipment racks
The contractor shall meet the following specifications/salient characteristics:
• Have a capacity no less than 35U, 19” EIA with a depth of not less than 36” with a total static loading capacity of not less than 1,800 lbs with leveling kit deployed and on castors.
• Be uniformly painted in a neutral color (prefer a light to medium grey)
• All racks will have castor style (swiveling) wheels and be able to be readily relocatable; the casters shall be lockable
• Be equipped with a leveling kit; adjustable legs, four corners
• The rack shall be fully enclosed, top, bottom, sides, and rear; only the front shall have exposed openings; with the exception of intended openings for airflow (back door panel), the enclosure shall have as few cable, connector, clothing snag points as possible
• The rack shall be furnished with a top mounted exhaust fan(s) with a rated capacity of no less than 250 cfm (prefer 500 CFM or greater), 110V/60 Hz with power run from the internal power distribution system; the exhaust fans shall be furnished installed and ready for use; the fan noise rating shall not exceed 56 dBA
• Be equipped with a hinged door in the rear of the rack (louvered style) with latch and lock
• Be equipped with an articulating monitor arm with a loading capacity of no less than 20 lbs.
• Be equipped with a retractable keyboard tray (2U); the tray shall be sufficient to accommodate a laptop with docking station
• Be equipped with two drawers, small and large (2-3U and 4-5U); the drawers shall be sufficient to house various attenuators, connectors, power sensors, and cables as required
• Be equipped with internal 110 Volt, 60 Hz, single phase power distribution, a capacity of no less than 30 Amps available in total, no less than 20 receptacles, and the power cords no less than 10’ long; the power cords shall mate to a standard 5-15P receptacle
• Be equipped with a cable pass through panel with one or two grommetted cutouts 1U or 2U with a total opening area between 13” and 16”; the purpose of the cutouts is to accommodate multiple GPIB cables if required
The Contractor shall provide the following accessories:
• No less than 12 pairs of horizontal equipment rails (16 pairs preferred/minimum capacity of 200 lbs) for mounting test equipment
• Be furnished with various size delete panels to fill vacant space from uninstalled equipment; each rack shall be furnished with at least 20U total of filler panels in no fewer than 3 different sizes (i.e. 4U, 6U, 10U)
• Removable work surfaces (i.e. bolt/screw in table attachment) capable of withstanding moderate to heavy wear and, be capable of withstanding 100 lbs static load (X2 dynamic), with smooth and tapered edges; as retractable drawers are not conducive to smooth non-snag edges, they will not be deemed acceptable
• Various cable management accessories (Velcro straps/snap-rings/etc); the types and quantity provided shall be sufficient to secure fast RG-58, IEEE/GPIB, USB, power, and various RF power cables for no less than five mounted equipment items without airflow obstructions
• All screws, nuts, washers, bolts, clips, fasteners, or other accessories required to secure fast all equipment purchased
