ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

The custom jersey barrier design structure (with 2 conduit holes running through) is advantageous around the Industrial Maintenance Complex (IMC) based on their ability to cover large open areas with a minimal number of barriers and the use of 3/4" steel cabling in order to link the barriers together. All barriers must be capable of being cabled together at 45 degree or even 90 degree angles in order to: maintain a security boundary around the IMC to keep unauthorized vehicle traffic from entering the flight line area, funnel authorized traffic to the appropriate access control points and to minimize possible incursions.

The IMC is a very complex area, barriers ensure parking lots, facilities, and other structures are kept outside and/or are tied within their boundaries. As a result, the cabling structure of custom jersey barriers ensure the flexibility to place the barriers where they will be most advantageous. Cabling allows the barriers to be manipulated in ways that would otherwise not be possible with the use of normal k-rail concrete barriers. The barriers with cabling conduits allow for the barriers to be spaced at various intervals while still covering any in-between gaps with the use of a 3/4" steel cable. The double backing (or looping) of the steel cable through the concrete barriers allows the cable to be at a height where if a vehicle were to attempt to go through the spacing of the barriers the vehicle would be apprehended.

Typical concrete barriers are connected by a steel pin at each end and do not have the flexibility to be connected at a 45 or 90 degree angle due to the large width at the base of the barrier and therefore fail to support the needs of this requirement.

Pictures below provide detail on the conduit holes, pick points, and fork slots, which are all required for all barriers. "Castle" decorative style mold is NOT required.
