| Description of Requirement: 860 AMXS requires innovative matching modular and conference style furniture to help facilitate collaboration in our squadron workspaces. All desk systems included in contracted catalogue have stationary, non adjustable work surfaces. However, there is a GSA approved vendor with desks we require. We require desks that have height adjustable work surfaces built into the actual desk. Obtaining this particular style of desk facilitates movement and a healthier work force. Furthermore, since aircraft maintenance is a 24 hour operation we require four "open nest" booths and bench style tables to provide a suitable location for lunch and work breaks. These booths and tables are not available through the contracted BPA catalog. |
| Justification: Our squadron vision is to create a working environment in each office that helps facilitate collaboration. The vision includes a workspace that will better enable C-17 maintainers to train and prepare to meet the asymmetric threat of tomorrow by encouraging a free flow of information and inculcating a learning culture. The requested products include furniture that will create spaces with the ability to connect planning areas, encouraging face to face communication, and creating an environment for collaboration. The requested furnishings are currently on GSA contract, but not on the current BPA. As stated above, "open nest" booths and height adjustable desktops are required, and there are no BPA vendors that have these offerings. Also, our vision is to have all furnishing have the same fit, finish, and finish. Having matching furniture provides our squadron the interchangeability between all workspaces to move items from workspace to workspace depending on mission needs. If any portion goes to through EBuy process it won't guarantee that the products will have the same form, fit or function; if this were to happen it would put us at our current state of non interchangeable furniture. Lastly, the GSA audit process guarantees DOD agencies the lowest price possible through the issuing of rebates if lowest price isn't met. |
