About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation FA441826Q0075 concerning the replacement of two Ingersoll-Rand air compressors at Joint Base Charleston, Building 536. The document provides clarification on site conditions and project requirements to support contractor planning and proposal development.

The facility has a target air pressure requirement for tooling operations and features a climate-controlled environment with a confined compressor room and limited ambient airflow. The existing compressors are approximately 42 inches wide by 42 inches deep by 50 inches tall, mounted on a 4-inch-thick concrete pad measuring 14 feet long by 53 inches wide. The equipment is accessible via a 12-foot-wide exterior roll-up door and two 6-foot by 7-foot double doors on the ground floor. The two units, both over 25 years old and requiring frequent repairs, must be replaced with new 30 HP air compressors. The contractor shall provide labor, materials, tools, and equipment for removal of existing equipment and installation of new units, including relocation and installation of existing air-lines and pipes. The Government will provide a forklift to facilitate equipment movement, and the existing system can be shut down during installation. Regarding the concrete pad, the Government has no plans for expansion but will discuss modifications if necessary. The document references attached data plates and site photographs showing spatial layout, electrical infrastructure, and existing conditions.

3. Any known requirements for air quality? The air pressure is strictly needed for tooling operation.

4. Spatial Layout: See attached photos

5. Electrical Infrastructure: See attached photos

6. Existing Conditions: See attached photos

7. What does the current system look like, and what equipment is expected to be removed and disposed of? The 2 compressors we need replaced of are made by Ingersoll- Rand. 8. How accessible is the installation area? The equipment is located on the ground floor, and is there a direct exterior door that can be used for moving the new equipment into space? These two units are on the ground floor and are accessible through a 12-foot-wide exterior roll up door and then by two each 6 ft x 7 ft double doors.

9. What is the reason for replacing the current system? Will any additional system components need to be removed, modified, or upgraded as part of this project? Both compressors are over 25 years old, unreliable and must be frequently repaired. Some air-lines/pipes will need to be removed from the existing units and then installed into the new units.
