About this file
This document contains Questions and Answers related to the 505 TRS Security Video Surveillance System Replacement solicitation. The key details are:
The solicitation is for upgrading the existing security video surveillance system at the 505 TRS facility. The current analog system has issues with cable lengths over 300 feet. The new system will use IP cameras and be a standalone system not connected to the base network. The solicitation requires 21 interior cameras and 8 exterior cameras, with the ability to record 1-2 months of video. The system must be FISMA compliant. The contractor will provide the FISMA-recommended OS images and an IT security plan. Scaled drawings are available, and existing cabling and cable trays can be utilized. The system requires a UPS with 6-8 hours of backup power. Equipment substitutions and plenum wire are allowed. The contractor will need to install new wiring, with the approximate footage noted in the drawing. No cipher locks are required. The government is looking to upgrade to an IP-based system with a new video management system, instead of just upgrading the existing analog system.

· Can the Government specify an option from below?
a) Does the government wish to use the existing Coax cable infrastructure and forgo the IP and POE and potential lens specifications? The resolution and frame rates would however be limited by the coaxial cable's capacity, particularly over long distances. There are high-definition cameras that offer 4MP resolutions that are compatible with your existing coaxial infrastructure but they would all require 12V DC power supplies.
b) Or does the Government wish to employ Ethernet over Coax (EOC) technology upgrades to allow use of IP cameras. This would require EOC adaptors and converters.
c) Or does the Government wish to stay within the initial specifications for IP cameras, POE infrastructure and 3-8 mm varifocal lens and re cable for the future. The ability to install and integrate a more robust and feature-rich video management system can easily be achieved with a POE VMS solution. Was it the Government’s intention to replace the existing VMS versus upgrading the existing VMS? Correct the preferred upgrade is to go with IP cameras and replace the existing VMS.\
