About this file

This is a brand name requirement specification for a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System (C-sUAS) capability being procured by the 17th Security Forces Squadron at Goodfellow Air Force Base under the requiring activity 17 SFS/S4. The requirement mandates the DroneShield Immediate Response Kit (IRK), specifically including the DroneGun MK4A defeat component and RfPatrol MK2 detection component, to meet operational and interoperability standards established by HQ AETC/A4S.

The system must be delivered as a complete, integrated, man-portable kit contained within a single ruggedized transport case capable of operating in adverse weather conditions. The detection component must be a wearable, chest-mounted or belt-mounted unit providing passive, long-range Radio Frequency detection capable of identifying a wide range of commercial sUAS protocols, with simple, intuitive visual, haptic, or audible alerts indicating threat direction and presence. The defeat component must be a handheld, rifle-style "drone gun" providing kinetic RF defeat functionality capable of disrupting both Command and Control and GPS/GNSS signals. Additional requirements include a tactical C2 tablet for displaying detection data and integrating with the defeat system, rechargeable field-swappable batteries for sustained operations, COTS installation requiring no permanent facility modifications, and a multi-year extended warranty with technical support covering all hardware components.

Requirement Title: C-sUAS Detection and Defeat Capability Requiring Activity: 17 SFS / S4, Goodfellow AFB

1. General Overview

*This is a Brand Name Requirement*

The 17th Security Forces Squadron requires a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) C-sUAS capability. The baseline requirement mandated by HQ AETC/A4S is for detection, but the system must also include an integrated RF defeat (jamming) function to meet the full operational need for installation defense. The system must be man-portable and delivered as a complete, integrated kit.

2. Physical & Environmental Characteristics

Characteristic Minimum Requirement

Portability The entire system (detection and defeat units) must be man-portable, contained within a single, ruggedized transport case.

Durability All components must be ruggedized for tactical field use and capable of operating in adverse weather conditions.

Detection Unit Form Factor

The detection component must be a wearable, chest-mounted or belt-mounted unit to allow for hands-free operation.

Defeat Unit Form Factor

The defeat component must be a handheld, rifle-style "drone gun" for ergonomic, targeted employment.

3. Functional & Performance Characteristics

Brand Name Requirement

System must be the DroneShield Immediate Response Kit (IRK), including the DroneGun MK4A and RfPatrol MK2. This is required to meet the specific operational and interoperability standards identified by HQ AETC/A4S during their market research and down-select process.

Detection Method

System must provide passive, long-range Radio Frequency (RF) detection, capable of identifying a wide range of commercial sUAS protocols.

Defeat Method System must provide a kinetic RF defeat (jamming) function capable of disrupting both Command and Control (C2) and GPS/GNSS signals.

User Interface The detection unit must provide simple, intuitive visual, haptic, or audible alerts to the operator, indicating the direction and presence of a threat.

C2 Integration Must include a tactical C2 tablet that can display detection data and integrate with the defeat system for enhanced situational awareness.

Power Source Must utilize rechargeable, field-swappable batteries for both detection and defeat components to ensure sustained operations.

4. Installation & Training Characteristics

Installation System must be a COTS solution requiring no permanent installation or facility modifications.

Warranty Vendor must provide a multi-year extended warranty and technical support package covering all hardware components.
