Questions for Solicitation FA301625Q0081

Question: Will the government provide on base infrastructure from the NEC at 2141 Kelly Dr Bldg. 1050 to the demark in Bldgs. 6114 and 5100?

Answer: For the Internet service requirement in support of the JBSA Lackland Library, currently there is no NEC Bldg. 1050 patch involvement. The Statement of Work that is attached for Solicitation FA301625Q0081 requires the Contractor to provide all necessary patch cables and equipment to extend the circuit from the Base Commercial Demarc, Bldg 5100 to Bldg 6114.

This includes placing required wiring and any other equipment deemed necessary. This information can be referenced in paragraph 2. Description of Service.

Question: Can the location of the 40 required network drops be indicated on the included floor plan?

Answer: The current network drops are installed in the Library’s attic attached to ceiling beams and are fed into the communication room

Question: Are all 40 network drops currently serviced by the referenced Cat4 cabling? If not, can new network drops be differentiated from existing ones on the provided floor plan?

Answer: The customer has provided verbiage in the Statement of Work under paragraph 2.3.

Specification that the current set up utilizes CAT4 cable.

Question: If network drops are located on open floor space (not attached to a wall), is the cable serviced from the ceiling inside existing service poles or from floor boxes under a raised floor?

Answer: Current network drops are installed in the Library’s attic attached to ceiling beams and are fed into the communication room

Question: Does the fiber from base telecom come into Server Room 119 on the floorplan, if not can this room be identified on the floorplan?

Answer: Yes, Room 119 as identified on the CAD is the communication room

Question: If Cat4 cabling is utilized for existing network drops that are included in the 40 requested "Hard Lines", can the Cat4 be removed by the installer when installing new Cat6 or Cat6A replacement cable?

Answer: Yes, the installer is permitted to use current network drops and routers or install new wiring and equipment as long as it meets the specifications identified in in the Statement of Work under paragraph 2.3. Specification

Question: The SoW indicated the operational date of May 31st. Has base fiber from the demarc to 6114 already been identified, tested, and tagged. The process to request this from the Base Fiber Team can take up to a month to process which could impact that 5/31/2025 timeline.

Answer: For the current Internet and WiFi, the Demarc is identified, tested, tagged, by the 502 Communication Squadron Commercial Communication manager and it is operational
