About this file

The provided document is a set of Salient Characteristics for a Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) Survey Kit, which is part of the requirements for a federal contract opportunity.

The key details include:

  • The sUAS must be NDAA compliant and on the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue UAS Cleared List.
  • It must have autonomous flight capabilities with 360-degree obstacle avoidance, as well as GPS-guided flight, hover stabilization, and 3D scanning software.
  • The sUAS must have a high-resolution camera, multiband communications, at least 35 minutes of flight time, and a foldable design for easy transportation.
  • Additional requirements include specific hardware specifications for the motherboard, graphics processor, and computer processor.
  • The sUAS must come with a tactical soft case, admin hard case, spare batteries, and spare propeller blades.
  • The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation (FA301024Q0040) for a Small Unmanned Aerial System, issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command.

Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) Survey Kit Salient Characteristics.

Skydio X2D with 3D Scan software or must have the following salient characteristics to be equal:

1. NDAA compliant and on the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue UAS Cleared List (Blue

UAS Cleared List is a list of DoD approved sUAS providing options for the evolving mission needs of government users.)

2. Capable of hovering (rotary wing) to provide stabilization for close range photography and video.

3. Autonomous flight capable with 360-degree obstacle collision avoidance.

4. 3D Scan software included that is capable of building 3 dimensional models of the physical world from camera captures.

5. High dynamic range (HDR) color camera capable of 3840 x 2160 resolution and 60 frames per second with 16x digital zoom or greater.

6. GPS guided flight.

7. Multiband communications offering frequencies of 1.8GHz and 5GHz to achieve wireless ranges not less than 10km and 6km, respectively.

8. Minimum of 35 minutes flight time.

9. Foldable arms to decrease footprint when transport by commercial air is required.

10. Pinch-release antenna for fast deployment.

11. Airframe construction based on magnesium and carbon fiber composites.

12. A tactical soft case and admin hard case for transportation.

13. Wide-angle color lens with ~80° horizontal field of view.

14. A total of three sUAS batteries with dual charger.

15. One spare propeller blade set.

16. Motherboard should support 8 GB LPDDR4 RAM.

17. Graphics processor (GPU) with 256 cores or greater and support for 3840 x 2160 resolution and 60 frames per second video.

18. Computer Processor (CPU) with processing speeds of 1.4 GHz or faster.

19. Automated online calibration of lens parameters, camera rotations, wind speed, and air density.

20. SD card compatible data storage with two 256 GB SD cards pre-installed.

21. Offline flight planning and execution capable. Able to design and execute flight plan when off network using pre-loaded maps.
