Miscellaneous text in this section has been modified to:

Questions and Answers:

1) The SOW states that all airfield runway markings are to be removed, does (should) this include the overrun displaced thresholds and the deceptive edge markings? This asphalt may be very soft and may not withstand hydro blasting.

A) All airfield markings are NOT to be removed, only any loose markings which may prevent adhesion of new marking paint.

2) Are the hold lines to be removed as part of the runway removal?

A) No.

3) Are all lead in lines to be removed as part of the runway removal?

A) No.

4) The SOW states that on the airfield taxiways approximately 10% of paint should be assumed to be removed.

10% is very subjective and open to interpretation. I would suggest the Government quantify the amount of removal with an actual SF quantity as a not to exceed amount.

A) The only paint to be removed is any paint that is loose and would prevent adhesion of new paint. No removal of properly adhered paint should take place therefore a quantity is not specified.

5) The drawing notes state "Remove all ECP and warning signs". Are the warning signs referenced the red line restricted area signs?

A) The warning signs are painted on the ground around the red line restricted areas.

6) Regarding the airfield marking and rubber removal:

a. How long can we have the runway shut down?

A) This will depend on how long it will take the contractor to do the work. The actual working schedule will have to be worked out with Airfield Operations. There is not a specified amount of time the runway can be shut

down for this project.

b. What percent removal are you looking for? Typically, 75% to 85%?

A) 0% removal for markings unless there is loose paint which would prevent adhesion of new paint 100% rubber removal from runway

c. Do you have an estimate on total amount so we can estimate a percentage or a square footage to keep all bidders on the same page?

A) See above.

d. Type 1 or Type 3 reflective beads?

A) Type 1

7) Regarding the taxiways and ramps.

a. What percent removal are you looking for? Typically, 75% to 85%?

A) 0% removal of markings unless there is loose paint which would prevent adhesion of new paint.

b. Do you have an estimate on total amount so we can estimate a percentage or a square footage to keep all bidders on the same page?

A) See above.

8) How many signs are there to re-do? Do you have a spec describing physical characteristics for that signage?

A) Approximately 85 Warning Signs painted on ground around Restricted Areas

9) Will you require environmental testing for the waste product?

A) No environmental testing will be required.

10) Is there a location to deposit the waste material to dry out?

A) No designated location for waste material (rubber shavings) to dry out.
