About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) attachment for Request for Quote (RFQ) FA2823-25-Q-0071 for Ophthalmology Slit Lamps. The Q&A provides clarification on specific equipment requirements, including a 50/50 beam splitter, short observer tube, and the need for new tonometers. The government is seeking to acquire new slit lamps and is open to trading in existing Haag-Streit models, provided there is no additional cost. The selected contractor will be responsible for assembly and installation of the equipment.

Key details include the requirement for slit lamps with a beam splitter that allows simultaneous viewing by an examiner and a camera, a short observer tube, and new tonometers. The government will accept trade-ins of existing Haag-Streit slit lamps at no additional cost, with proper disposal as an alternative. The contractor must handle both the equipment procurement and installation, using their own service engineers.

RFQ: FA2823-25-Q-0071 – Ophthalmology Slit lamps

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q1: Would you please clarify the beam splitter capability?

A1: The beam splitter capability splits the light so both the examiner and a camera or second view can see the eye at the same time.

Q2: Would your clinicians want the 50/50 beam splitter or the 70/30 beam splitter?

A2: 50/50.

Q3: Are you seeking the Short Observer Tube or the long Observer Tube?

A3: Short.

Q4: The Sources Sought indicated that there would be trade-ins of the old slit lamps (available if the slit lamps being traded in are Haag-Streit models). Please confirm If this is desired.

A4: Yes, we would like to trade in the old slit lamps.

NOTE: For the trade-in, all slit lamps are Haag-Streit, and the government would desire a trade-in as long as it doesn’t cost the government any money. Otherwise, we will dispose of these in the proper manner.

Q5: Will you need new tonometer’s with the slit lamps?

A5: We do need new tonometer’s with the new lamps. That is on the requirements list as a specific type of tonometer too.

Q6: Will you need our certified Haag-Streit Field Service Engineers to install the slit lamps?

A6: The assembly and installation would need to be accomplished by the selected contractor as that is the only way for the installation to occur.
