QA: Target Tow Boats
1. Will the Target Tow Boat always be equipped with an old, non-working, outboard motor when operating a test and what is the weight or size (HP) and brand of the motor?
This is an important factor when considering how the vessel will track and perform without fishtailing at speeds of 40 knots without rudders.
No, it will not (always) be equipped with an old, non-working, outboard motor – a high probability that it never will. In my short couple years here, we’ve never mounted an engine to the transom. That does not mean that we wouldn’t/couldn’t need a mock-up …
2. Can you provide more details on this feature highlighted below; are the brackets mounted nearer the Bow or Midships? Bow At what height above the waterline? 16” Are they actually used for towing during target practice? Yes
