About this file

This document is an amendment to the FA252125QB033 Pavement Crack Router solicitation containing questions and answers. The amendment addresses two key questions from a potential vendor: first, whether an "or equal" offer without a dust collection system would be accepted, and second, clarifying solicitation response dates and requirements. The government responded that dust control is necessary due to harmful materials generated during pavement grinding, and the requirement is strictly for purchasing a Pavement Crack Router with its specified salient characteristics. The amendment instructs vendors to disregard previous question submission dates and refers them to a separate amendment changing response dates, with all other solicitation terms and conditions remaining unchanged.

Text version

The purpose of this amendment is to provide a response to questions for subject solicitation FA252125QB033 Pavement Crack Router.

A.

Question 1 Will you accept an "or equal" offer for a Pavement Crack Router without the dust collection system?

Notes:

The spec appears to be for a Crafco brand (US company). The only other manufacturer that would have the dust collection is Marathon (Canada).

We respectfully offer that the dust collection (bag) is a high maintenance feature and not a continuous solution. The dust collection bags require constant replacement. Personal PPE (mask) is a solution that offers protection with minimal maintenance.

Answer 1 The dust control is necessary because of silicone and other harmful materials in the dust generated by pavement grinding.

There would be other vendors out there with the built-in dust control apparatus.

Question 2 I understand that questions for this solicitation were due by 3/26/25 @ 12PM.

Is that still the case?

Is the only requirement to provide a “Pavement Crack Router”? I see a note about the pick-up of the equipment, is it only required for a certain amount of time?

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Answer 2 Disregard all questions due by 3/26/25 @ 12PM.

See amendment issued to the solicitation changing the response dates.

The requirement is only to purchase a Pavement Crack Router.

The salient characteristics is stated in the solicitation, there is no additional information.

B. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
