10 Miler Buses Q and A

1. For the bus driver dry run to be completed before 12/13, how many hours will need to be booked for the buses to perform the dry run?

a. For the dry run on 13 December, it should take only 1.5 - 2 hours to get through and learn both routes. This does not include the time it takes them to get to and from the Cape.

2. Just to be clear, you want 20 buses in all. First ten for 4 hours and the 2nd group approx. 5 1/2 hours.

a. We are only requesting 10 (56 pax) commercial buses from 0400 to 1300 on 14 December.

The 10 commercial buses will be staged at the skid strip designated security area by 0400.

These 10 will run a shuttle service for participants from the designated security area to the race start and back to the security area until 0800 (or until the race starts). They will also be accompanied by 5 LRS buses to help out.

The same 10 commercial buses will then be staged near the finish line by 0815 or as soon as they are done dropping participants off at the race start. They will then transport both participants and spectators from Hangar C back to parking in the skid strip until all passengers are dropped off.

The LRS buses will also be there to help out.

3. How many participants are we expecting to join the event and to utilize the shuttle service provided?

a. I’d guestimate around 800 individuals may utilize the shuttle services.

4. It is stated that “Buses will run a continuous shuttle service from the security area of the race to the start line drop off where participants will disembark” – does it mean that bus will only service the participants and expectator at the start of the race by bringing them from the security area to the start line? How about at the end of the race? Does it mean the participants won’t be riding the buses after the race?

a. See question 2

5. The mission is:

10 buses 04:00am through 08:00am, and;

10 buses 07:30am through 13:00am?

a. See question 2

6. Can the same buses in the first shift work with the second shift as well?

a. See question 2

7. Are you requesting a total of (20) 56 Passenger buses? Ten buses are needed for the Pre-Race shuttle service that runs from 0400 until 0800. Another 10 buses are needed for the Post- Race shuttle service that runs from 0730 to 1300. There is a 30 minute overlap between 0800 and 0730 so this is why I am confirming the number of buses needed.

a. See question 2

8. How many miles or meter is the distance between the pick up point up to the drop off point of the people that will ride bus in the 2024 Space Force T-Minus 10-Miler event?

a. We’re guesstimating 5-8 miles from pickup to start line.

9. How many drivers and buses would be considered "enough" for the dry run to ensure adequate preparation for the race day?

a. A minimum of 4 drivers to learn the routes.
